Yolanda Adams Stated That She Was Abused By Her Former Husband

Yolanda Adams

Gospel vocalist Yolanda Adams has had a long and fruitful career. She became a household celebrity thanks to the success of her debut album, Mountain High… Valley Low.

As the singer gained prominence, the media aggressively followed every step she made. She was frequently featured in the media for her work, but she was also in the news for her challenging personal life. Adams wed Troy Mason for the first time in 1988. Nothing is known about the relationship of the couple, who wed in secrecy.

When and how they first met and fell in love are unknown. However, the pair had already filed for divorce by 1990, and Adams later acknowledged that her husband had abused her. Adams addressed the abuse in a previous video that Gospel-Praise Music reposted on YouTube, claiming that it was the cause of her divorcing her husband.

Her ex-husband mistreated Yolanda Adams

When Adams opened up about her relationship, she was doing a performance in front of an audience. She claimed to have been in an abusive marriage and to have traversed the country telling people what had happened. At first, she felt ashamed of her past, but after talking to God, everything changed.

She had chosen the man above God’s will, and because of the trauma she had experienced, God told the Gospel star that he could now utilize Adams more than ever. She then understood that she had to share her story with the rest of the world.

The singer said, “I hope that by sharing my story, anyone here who is experiencing physical or emotional abuse—whether a man or a woman—will believe me when I say that God does not want you in that situation. She claimed that right before she married Mason, God forbade her from doing so.

She disregarded his advice, though, and had to deal with the consequences. Adams claimed that despite being struck in the face and thrown across the room, she was unharmed. Mason denied the allegations and claimed that Adams was almost certainly referring to her second husband, according to Heavy.

Seven years after divorcing her first husband, Adams met and fell in love with former NFL player Tim Crawford, whom she later married. The singer cited the birth of their daughter Taylor Ayanna Crawford in 2001 as one of the finest things that had ever happened to her. According to Heavy, the singer told JET magazine in 2002 that becoming a mother had improved her life.

“Until you become a parent, you really don’t understand love.” All I have to do is see her gorgeous grin and know everything is fine in the world, the singer said, “no matter how weary I am after a show or how preoccupied I am after a lengthy recording session.”

She talked about her own marriages and asserted that it takes at least three years to get to know someone well enough to know if you want to spend the rest of your life with them. Adams and Crawford got divorced in 2004 and have vowed to co-parent their daughter amicably.
