On May 25, MasterChef’s 12th season will debut, giving 20 previous finalists a second chance to compete. These former participants will include Tommy Walton from season 6.

Tommy, who is now a fashion designer, came in seventh place and is now prepared to put his culinary skills to the test once more.

Twenty former finalists will showcase their culinary skills during the show’s twelfth season. Candidates will have to successfully perform challenging tasks in front of chefs Joe Bastianich, Gordon Ramsay, and Aarón Sanchez to win. Finally, the winner will receive the coveted title in addition to a substantial financial prize of $250,000.

This season is more exciting than any other thanks to a journey full of surprises that takes the contestants on an unforgettable journey. Ramsay and the judges on MasterChef’s tenth season will serve as mentors to these gifted home cooks competing for the title of MasterChef and the $250,000 top prize.

Chicago native Tommy Walton was one of the strongest candidates in season 6. But in a team pressure test where he had to create a party dish, he was eliminated.

However, the 53-year-old later expanded his company and started to create. Before taking part in the cooking competition, he finished a rigorous design training course. In 1980, he graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Goodman School of Drama at DePaul University. He spent four years studying there before graduating in 1984.

Soon after, in 1986, Tommy began working as a designer for Price Walton CoutureLab. Before moving on to bigger opportunities, he spent three years working for the organization. The chef also held a position as a teacher at The School of The Art Institute of Chicago in 1989.

He still teaches Conceptual Object Design and Accessories. In 2015, Walton made his television debut on the sixth season of MasterChef USA. Even though he lost the tournament, he made everyone laugh with his confidence and sense of humor.

Following the contest, he went back to design and eventually rose to the position of Chair of the Design Department at the National Young Arts Foundation in Miami.

Additionally, he was appointed brand ambassador for Daelmans Stroopwafels in 2017, the top stroopwafel baker in the world. As a renowned Creole Chef with a background in cross-disciplinary fashion design and visual arts, Tommy Walton is now well known. The show’s season 12 premiere will air on FOX on May 25 at 8 p.m. ET.
