When Jackie Chan Was A Suspected Death Hoax Victim

Jackie Chan

Unquestionably, one of the most well-known action stars in the world is Jackie Chan. He jumped to Hollywood after dominating Hong Kong’s silver screen with his work as an actor and stuntman in martial arts and action films.

In the action-comedy hybrid Rush Hour from 1998, he made his Hollywood debut opposite Chris Tucker.

The film was a huge hit and led to two sequels. Chan also became a celebrity as a result of it.

Chan has swung on chandeliers, slid down buildings, and jumped off them over his long career, inflicting several burns, breaking bones, and making countless trips to the emergency room.

Additionally, likely, his involvement with such risky activities has repeatedly led to death rumors.

Jackie Chan Speaks About the Death Scam

Chan denied the accusations in 2015 when they first surfaced, despite the actor still being very much alive at the time.
The Rush Hour actor expressed his disbelief in a message posted on his official Facebook page.

“When I got to the airport, I saw two news headlines that surprised me. Don’t worry, first of all! I am still here. Second, don’t fall for the Red Pockets fraud that is being perpetrated on Weibo under my name. I only have one official Weibo page, and this is my official Facebook page. Chan wrote on Facebook, “Love you, everyone.

Oddly enough, this wasn’t the actor’s first experience with a death fake. On social media, false allegations that he had a deadly heart attack appeared in 2011.

The rumors sent his followers into a frenzy, and the question “is Jackie Chan still alive?” trended on Twitter and Google.

The actor was proven to be alive and currently filming a new movie by a member of his team, ending the death fake before it could get any worse.

The Washington Post reports that Courier Mail determined the myth was spread via a spoof website that had been altered to resemble Yahoo! 7News, an Australian news website.

What Is Jackie Chan Up To These Days?

Chan’s decreasing number of film roles in American productions may have contributed to the widespread belief that the death hoax was real.

The Hollywood actor used to be the busiest, but he now maintains a quiet profile. He has resumed producing more Chinese movies, and he explained why in an interview with the Portuguese publication Filmelier in October 2020.

He clarified that he hadn’t left Hollywood, but that it had become difficult for him to obtain employment because he was always being offered roles as a police officer.

“After The Karate Kid, I have gotten other scripts throughout the years, but the role has always been that of a Hong Kong police officer. That’s why it took me seven years to agree to play in The Foreigner, a Hollywood movie,” Chan said.

Seven years had passed since the release of his 2010 Karate Kid movie before The Foreigner. With each movie he appeared in, the actor said he hoped people would get to see a different side of him.
