American singer-songwriter, author, and musician Mark William Lanegan was born on November 25, 1964, and he passed away on February 22, 2022. He also became well-known as the lead singer of The Gutter Twins, Queens of the Stone Age, and the early grunge band Screaming Trees.

In addition, he recorded 12 studio albums for his own label, 3 with Isobel Campbell, and 2 with Duke Garwood. One writer described Lanegan’s baritone voice as “as scratchy as a three-day beard yet as supple and springy as moccasin leather.”

Mark Lanegan passed away at his home in Killarney, Ireland, on February 22, 2022, at the age of 57, as a result of his illness and deteriorating health. The cause of death was not mentioned.

Among the musicians who paid homage were Iggy Pop, Moby, John Cale, Sleaford Mods, Badly Drawn Boy, Anton Newcombe, Peter Hook, and Manic Street Preachers.

Residents of Killarney, a close-knit town, also expressed sadness. The Guardian’s obituary of Stevie Chick referred to him as one of the most soulful singers of his generation.

A nice man, Mark Lanegan. Some of us could only dream of living a life like his. He leaves us with some wonderful lyrics and music. Thank God that he will live forever despite everything. Mark, RIP. Rest well.

Was Mark Lanegan a Covid victim?

With severe COVID-19, Lanegan was hospitalized in March 2021 and almost passed away. The illness caused him to briefly lose his hearing, become immobile, and spend several months slipping in and out of a coma.

In a 2020 interview, Lanegan discussed his views on several COVID-19 conspiracy theories, including the idea that illness is connected to 5G technology.

In addition, he claimed to be worried about being watched by electronic devices along with his wife. He admitted in 2021 that he had come to believe the COVID-19 pandemic was a “natural phenomenon” and that he was one of the idiots who had doubts about the vaccination.
