What Is Susan Tully Doing In 2022?

Susan Tully

Susan Tully achieved success as a filmmaker after giving up acting. As the 17-year-old Michelle Fowler who entered EastEnders in 1985, Susan Tully is well-remembered. In the television series Why Can’t I Go Home, Susan made her début in 1979. She was cast in the Suzanne Ross role in Grange Hill two years later, and she stayed in that role through 1984.

Michelle Fowler, a contentious adolescent with waves of dark hair, became pregnant after having an affair with Grant Mitchell. After learning that she was expecting a child with the ex-husband of her best friend, she departed Albert Square in 1995 in search of sunsets in Alabama, USA.

How did Susan Tully start her Professional Career?

Susan Tully’s final acting role was in the satirical movie Up ‘n’ Under in 1998.

After that, she returned to EastEnders as a director behind the camera rather than as Michelle Fowler. 12 episodes, which aired from late 1998 through early 1999, were directed by Tully.

Tully went on to have a prosperous career as a director, contributing her skills to plays like Puppy Love, Black Cab, Silent Witness, Lark Rise to Candleford, and London’s Burning.

She has directed more than 30 films.

ITV began airing her most recent program, Too Close, in April 2021. The series is based on Clara Salaman’s book of the same name, which she wrote and published under the name Natalie Daniels.

Too Close follows Clara’s tradition of releasing tales with sinister undertones and powerful female protagonists. The connection between patient Connie Mortensen and psychiatrist Dr. Emma Robertson is examined in the television show. Connie is charged with killing two kids by ramming her car off a bridge, but she denies any involvement.

Dr. Emma is skilled at handling these situations, but there is something about Connie that compels her to become closer than her line of work permits.

While filming during the pandemic, Susan Tully and the production team experienced many difficulties, but they persevered and created an intriguing three-part documentary. Clara Salaman said to Heart that employing a small workforce had advantages:

“When filming, there are frequently a lot of people there. And a good deal of Too Close is quite private. For instance, when there was only Emily and Denise in the room, it became quite private and functioned perfectly.

Susan Tully likely won’t make a comeback to EastEnders. While she was a cast member of EastEnders, Susan Tully won over many fans, many of whom were sad to see her depart the long-running program.

After her son’s character, Mark Fowler Jr., showed up in Albert Square, there was a ray of hope for her return. Fans predicted that his mother, Susan, who plays Michelle Fowler, would be right after him.

Sadly, even though Michelle Fowler made a comeback, the actor who made her role famous didn’t. When Susan declined invitations to come back, the showrunners were forced to cast a different actor in the role.

Jenna Russell stepped into Michelle’s position with Susan’s approval. Susan Tully’s return to EastEnders is consequently doubtful, at least not in an acting role.
