What Happened To Brandi Worley? Her Life Following The Murders

Brandi Worley

Brandi Worley brutally murdered her two children, Tyler and Charlee, in their home on November 17, 2016, a day after her husband, Jason Worley, filed for divorce.

Jason slept in the basement as Brandi repeatedly stabbed their children in the neck before stabbing herself.

Worley dialed 911 and calmly stated, “I just stabbed myself and killed my two children.”

The dispatcher, stunned, requested Brandi’s mother to check on the children. Jason, who was resting in the basement, was awakened by the children’s grandmother’s screaming.

“You can’t take the kids away from me anymore,” an indifferent Brandi warned Jason.

Tyler and Charlee were interred several days later at Darlington’s Greenlawn Cemetery. Due to the efforts of YouTuber Philip DeFranco, the matter had gained international notice by that point.

Jason contacted Philip via Reddit, saying that his children like his writing.

“Two innocent children were murdered, and their futures were robbed by the one who gave them life,” Philip stated in a video.

“So much love was stolen out of Jason’s life.”

Philip encouraged people to donate to a GoFundMe campaign to cover the funeral costs for the kids and Jason’s living expenses. It quickly topped $50,000, and people are still donating to this day.

Brandi pleaded not guilty to two charges of felony murder at first. When prosecutors filed charges against her, she had recovered from her self-inflicted stab wounds. Worley proclaimed her desire to use the insanity defense as she awaited trial.

Brandi, on the other hand, pleaded guilty to the charges in January 2018. When Brandi entered her plea, Jason was present. He told the Indianapolis Star:

“She appeared to be just as adamant as she was in the 911 call.” When recounting her crime, she talked in a matter-of-fact tone. Hearing her speak like that broke my heart.

All I want and have ever wanted is to get her out of my sight and mind so I may move on from this nightmare.”

Brandi Worley was sentenced to 120 years in prison by Judge Harry Siamas in March 2018.

“There are moments when there is no explanation,” he remarked.

“There is darkness in this world.” And it gets into our heads and our emotions.”

Brandi remained silent during her sentencing. She is being held at the Indiana Women’s Prison in Indianapolis, Indiana. According to reports, she suffers from depression and lives in an ‘unemotional’ state.

According to defense counsel Mark Inman, Brandi was emotional during their first few encounters before turning indifferent. He speculated that it was her reaction to the situation.

“That’s the only way she can deal with it right now,” Mark explained. “She has no idea why she did it.”

Brandi claimed she killed the children to keep her husband from abducting them

Tyler and Charlee’s murders were without a doubt planned. According to the County Prosecutor’s timeline of events, the family went to Charlee’s dancing practice the afternoon after Jason filed for divorce.

The family ate dinner before Brandi dashed to Walmart, presumably to buy pipe cleaners for Tyler’s school project. Brandi bought a Kabar combat knife and placed it in Tyler’s bedroom when she got home.

Before Jason put the kids to bed, she and Jason played with them. Brandi persuaded Jason into Charlee’s bedroom early the next morning, where he straddled and stabbed him.

During the killing, Charlee awoke and questioned, “What are you doing?”

Brandi said, ‘nothing,’ and instructed Charlee to ‘go back to sleep.’ She shifted her focus to her daughter after she had finished Tyler.

She then stabbed herself in the neck, yet she survived, unlike her children.

“She was better at killing her little, sleeping children than she was at killing herself,” Montgomery County Prosecutor Joe Buser said.

When the 911 dispatcher asked Brandi why she’d killed her children, she replied, “My husband wanted a divorce and wanted to take my kids.” I do not want him to have my children.”

Jason stayed with Brandi because she tried to draw the children into their marital problems

Jason and Brandi tied the knot in August 2009. Tyler was born in 2009, and Charlee was born in 2013. Jason revealed Brandi’s infidelity and use of the children to persuade him into remaining married in a well-known Reddit post on the sub r/relationship advice.

Jason claimed that he began to suspect Brandi of cheating when she password-protected her phone. Brandi admitted to Jason that she had concealed a significant secret from him and felt horrible about it. Jason stated:

“[She] told me that as a present for me, she was having our neighbor, a builder, create a home office.” It struck me as weird because in our six years together, she has never shown guilt over anything and has always insisted that she has no regrets in her life.”

Jason examined Brandi’s phone and discovered a flirtatious text she sent to the neighbor who was building his office. Jason told himself that the message was harmless since Brandi would never ‘do anything to injure him.’

He eventually installed spyware on Brandi’s phone that enabled him to follow her whereabouts and read her texts. Jason recited a discussion between him and Brandi in front of his neighbor in which they confessed their love for each other. He stated:

“But then they say they love each other, and it’s all I can do not to jump off the couch and knock him out.” But I keep my cool and continue reading the conversation in front of me.”

Jason confronted Brandi and told her he was leaving the relationship. Brenda responded by saying she would exploit his earlier suicide attempt to persuade authorities that he was unsuitable to have custody of his children.

Jason went home the next day to find the kids crying: Brandi had informed them that she had to leave because Jason was upset with her.

“I understood she was going to drag the kids through hell if I left her at that point, so I buried my sentiments and begged her to stay,” Jason wrote.

“I’m concerned that saying I want a divorce now would simply make her more resentful towards my children and myself after all this time and the fact that I begged her back.”
