Tyre Nichols Death: ‘Human Piata’ Video On Twitter Shows Memphis Police Beating Man

Five police officers were found to have violated various departmental standards during the stop, including those pertaining to the use of force, after an inquiry.

Tyre Nichols’ family’s attorneys said on Monday that they had seen the footage of the police contact that took place a few days before Nichols passed away. They said that the victim had endured a horrific beating that was pure, outright, and unrelenting, similar to the treatment Rodney King had at the hands of the police.

Nichols, 29, was brought to the hospital after being stopped by the police on January 7 in Memphis, Tennessee. He died unexpectedly three days later.

What happened to Tyre Nichols before his death?

Nichols, a native of Memphis, was taken to the hospital after two tense encounters with the police on January 7. He passed away on January 10. According to the authorities, the cause of death has not yet been determined.

According to the police, Nichols was pulled over for careless driving at around 8:30 p.m.

Police said that after a conflict, the suspect left the area on foot as police came close to the driver of the automobile. Officers tried to take Nichols into custody after yet another fight.

According to the Police, Nichols reported experiencing respiratory problems, and an ambulance was sent. Nichols was in a serious state when he was taken to the hospital. Police have not provided details about each altercation’s events.

Twitter went viral with the footage of Memphis Police hitting Nichols like a human piñata.

The city of Memphis said on Tuesday that it will release the video documentation of Nichols’ death after the Memphis Police Department had finished its internal investigation.

In a joint statement, Memphis Mayor Jim Strickland and Memphis Police Chief CJ Davis claimed that the video was made public after the internal inquiry into the officers’ actions was completed and after the family of Mr. Nichols had an opportunity to see it in private.

The police department and the city launched an internal inquiry after the event, and the officers responsible for the traffic stop were placed on administrative leave. On Sunday, Memphis municipal authorities made the announcement that the police will face disciplinary punishment.

Protesters, mourners, and friends gathered in front of a police station on Saturday to call for the prosecution of the cops involved in Nichols’ murder.

A balloon was let off during the demonstration throughout the day. According to his stepfather Rodney Wells, Nichols was a very loving youngster.

At a memorial ceremony on Tuesday, Nichols’ friends and family recalled him as a person who would make the space more cheerful. His demise was described as a “dark way” for someone with so much brightness by Tyre’s longtime friend Angelina Paxton.

She went on to add that because she wasn’t sure she could forgive the police, all she could say was that she prayed God would.

An administrative inquiry showed that five of the cops who were engaged in the traffic stop had violated departmental standards, and they were fired on Friday.
