Later this year, Channel 4 will air a new drama starring Michael Sheen about the infamous Wagatha Christie case.

David Sherborne, Coleen Rooney’s attorney, will be portrayed by the actor, who is well-known for playing real-life personalities like Chris Tarrant and Sir Tony Blair.

Chanel Cresswell, who starred in This Is England, will play Rooney, while Natalia Tena, who starred in Harry Potter, will play Rebekah Vardy.

Vardy v. Rooney: A Courtroom Drama is a two-part movie on Channel 4

The broadcaster declared that in 2019, it would reenact the “high drama, high stakes High Court defamation case that followed” Mrs. Rooney’s now-famous social media post in which she accused Vardy of leaking personal information about her to the public.

The case “had a huge impact on the two women at its center and catapulted the two sparring legal teams into the spotlight where, much like Rooney and Vardy, their every move in the courtroom was dissected and scrutinized in the press,” the broadcaster said.

Hugh Tomlinson, Vardy’s lawyer, will be played by Simon Coury, who is well known for his role in The Professor And The Madman.

Dion Lloyd will portray Rooney’s husband, player Wayne Rooney, while Marci Nagyszokolyai will portray Jamie Vardy.

The show, which was produced using the court transcripts, will premiere before the year is through.

It is not the only TV program investigating the situation; in August, Disney+ announced it was producing a three-part documentary series about the legal dispute with “unique access” to Coleen Rooney.

It is also believed that the BBC is developing a Curious Films-produced documentary of its own.

Vardy, 40, lost her libel case against Rooney, 36, earlier this summer. Rooney claimed she had conducted a months-long sting operation to find out who had been providing information about Vardy to the Sun tabloid.

Mrs. Rooney’s accusation was deemed “basically true” by a High Court judge.

In honor of the well-known mystery author Agatha Christie, Mrs. Rooney’s sleuthing activities earned her the moniker Wagatha Christie.
