Tony Kemp was born Anthony Allen Kemp on 31 October 1991. He grew up with parents, Rick Kemp and Catherine Kemp somewhere in Franklin, Tennessee, the United States. He also has an older sibling named Corey and Ashley Kemp.

Kemp began playing in his hometown of Franklin at the Centennial High School. After finishing high school, he continued his college baseball career. He joined the University of Vanderbilt and started playing for the baseball team of the Vanderbilt Commodores.
