The Identity Of Millie Gibson, Ncuti Gatwa’s Friend, Is Finally Exposed

Millie Gibson

In Doctor Who, Millie Gibson has been introduced as Ruby Sunday, a companion for Ncuti Gatwa’s Time Lord. The actress from Coronation Street was cast live on BBC One’s Children In Need campaign on Friday.

The 15th Doctor played by Ncuti Gatwa will appear in her debut episode, which will air around the holidays in 2023.

The long-running sci-fi drama’s casting stunned Gibson, who added: “It is a gift of a role, and a dream come true.”

The 18-year-old won best young actor at the 2018 British Soap Awards for his role as Kelly Neelan in Coronation Street.

She also played the characters of Lily in the ITV drama Butterfly and Indira in the CBBC program Jamie Johnson.

“I am beyond honored to be cast as the Doctor’s companion,” she continued.

I shall make every effort to live up to the standards set by my fellow travelers before me.

“Millie just is the companion,” Gatwa remarked. She is gifted, strong, and razor-sharp. Millie also has a cheeky twinkle in her eye.

“She captivated all of our attention with her effervescence the instant she walked into the room and then reinforced that attention with the sheer torque of her talent.”

I can’t wait to travel the universe with Millie on this wild and entertaining trip, he continued.

“It’s the great honor of my work to identify the next generation of talent, and Millie shines like a star already,” said showrunner Russell T Davies.

She is lively, smart, brilliant, and a fantastic actor. As a Coronation Street fan, I’ve seen Millie endure gunfights, sieges, and pursuits, but that’s nothing in comparison to what Ruby Sunday will experience.

The 14th Doctor, played by David Tennant, replaced Jodie Whittaker’s 13th Doctor last month. For three special episodes that will air in November 2023 as part of the show’s 60th-anniversary festivities, the Scottish actor has returned to the series.

He will see Catherine Tate’s Donna again after they shared a 2008 appearance.

At the end of 2023, Gatwa will then take over the position. The first actor whose presence is confirmed beside him is Gibson.

Davies, who oversaw the sci-fi drama’s successful return from 2005 and 2010, is in charge of the new episodes.

Chris Chibnall, the showrunner during Jodie Whittaker’s tenure as the Doctor, has been replaced by him.

It was revealed last month that the BBC and Disney had come to an agreement for the venerable drama. The BBC in the UK will continue to air brand-new episodes. But it will be broadcast on Disney+ outside of the UK and Ireland.
