Actor and stuntman Ted White gained notoriety in the entertainment industry. On Twitter, tributes to the actor flooded in.

Ted White, also known as Alex Bayouth, was a body double for John Wayne, Fess Parker, Clark Gable, and Richard Boone. He was born on January 25, 1926. He was born and raised in Snyder, Texas, and later attended the University of Oklahoma to play football. Before being asked to serve as a consultant on the design of the island in the 1949 war movie Sands of Iwo Jima, he served in the Marine Corps for six years.

White first worked as John Wayne’s body double in 1952 after they became friends. He made several western movies and TV shows appearances, such as Magnum, P.I., Rockford Files, The Andy Griffith Show, and Daniel Boone.

After that, White appeared in movies including Major League, Gone in 60 Seconds, and Silverado. He gained notoriety for his portrayal of serial killer Jason Voorhees in the fourth Friday the 13th film, Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter. Joseph Zito’s film, which garnered poor reviews when it was released on April 13, 1984, took in almost $33 million at the box office. White requested not to be known on television and accepted the role because he needed the money.

In the following two movies, Friday the 13th: A New Beginning and Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives, Ted White had the chance to reprise his role.

He declined to come back, therefore Tom Morga and C.J. Graham filled the roles. In 2017, Larry K. Meredith’s Cast a Giant Shadow, a biography of White’s career, was published. White’s spouse was Jeri Bayouth. She said after his death that he had a kind and generous heart. She even noted how he experienced a lot and took many risks. He is survived by his wife and their two sons.
