Talisa Garcia

British actress Talisa Garcia has been hired in the upcoming Disney+ series Willow. This is the first time an openly trans actor has been cast in a Disney-owned Lucasfilm production, which owns Indiana Jones and Star Wars franchises.

The TV adaption of the 1988 film would follow a princess who forms a team to defend her twin brother. In addition to Warwick Davis, the cast includes Erin Kellyman, Ellie Bamber, and Tony Revolori as Willow Ufgood.

What is the identity of Talisa Garcia?

Garcia was discovered on the streets of Chile as a child after her mother abandoned her. While she was adopted by a wealthy family, she lived her childhood during Augusto Pinochet’s dictatorial rule. Her family was expelled from the nation.

When Garcia was a toddler, her family relocated to the United Kingdom, first to Swansea, Wales, and later, as she got older, to London. Despite her early move, Garcia is fluent in multiple languages (English and Spanish).

Garcia candidly shares the adversity and misery that marred her upbringing. Although Talisa Garcia was born male, she found it difficult to live as a man. Garcia attempted suicide at the age of 13 in the year 1990.

Garcia was captured and sent to the hospital, where she was enrolled in a psychiatric program, which she subsequently described as “the best thing that had ever happened to her.” It helped her identify the difficulties she was experiencing.

In 1992, Talisa Garcia completed her shift with the assistance of her parents. It was an unqualified success. She has expressed her displeasure with the operation, which required her to spend hours attempting to use the toilet.

Garcia changed her name after coming out as transgender. She changed her name to Talisa in honor of actress Talisa Soto, who played Bond girl Lupe Lamore in the film License to Kill (1989).

Professional Career

Talisa Garcia began her acting career at London’s esteemed Sylvia Young Theatre School. She graduated in 2003 from the Arts Educational School of London, a vocational acting school founded by the acclaimed composer Andrew Lloyd Webber.

Garcia had previously had minor roles in films and television programs, including the BBC series Silent Witness and Doctors, but Baptiste is her first major role.

Garcia has previously expressed her dissatisfaction with casting, alleging that she was told she was “not transgender enough” for roles requiring trans performers.

According to an article in The Stage, she supports the ongoing effort to highlight LGBTQ+ tales and pushes acting schools to teach more trans actors. According to Deadline, Garcia has been cast in Willow as the character’s mother, the queen.

She has a modest speaking role and may appear in one episode of the series. According to IMDb, Garcia will appear in eight episodes of the fantasy thriller.

Talisa Garcia’s coworkers were ecstatic about her selection, as it would be the first time a trans artist portrayed a cis character in a Disney+ production.
