As a child, Dave was always able to make people laugh, and after watching Eddie Murphy and Richard Pryor, he concluded that comedy was his true calling. After graduation, he proceeded to New York City to pursue his career, first in minor comedy clubs and eventually at the Apollo Theater during Amateur Night, when he, like many others, was booed off the stage.
