Stephen A. Smith would not be on First Take or ESPN radio the following week, the show’s website said. The following Wednesday, he will be back on ESPN.

Smith said earlier this week that he was sorry for saying that women sometimes “provoke” being hit. Later, he said that what he had said was “the worst mistake of my career.”

Stephen A. Smith’s early life and Education

Stephen Anthony Smith was born in the Bronx, which is a part of New York City. He grew up in the Hollis area of Queens. Smith is the fifth of six children. Basil, his older brother, died in a car accident in 1992. He also had four older sisters.

He also has a half-brother from his father’s side. Smith’s parents grew up in Saint Thomas, which is part of the U.S. Virgin Islands. His dad was in charge of a hardware store. Smith’s paternal grandmother was white, but the rest of his grandparents were all black.

In 1986, he got his diploma from Thomas Edison High School in Queens. After a year at the Fashion Institute of Technology, he got a basketball grant to attend Winston-Salem State University, a historically black university in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

In college, he played basketball for coach Clarence Gaines, who is in the Hall of Fame. In an article for the school newspaper, The News Argus, Smith, who was still on the team, said that Gaines should step down because of health worries. He is a member of the Omega Psi Phi club. In 1991, Smith got a Bachelor of Arts degree in public relations.

Stephen A. Smith’s life outside of Work

In an interview with GQ on December 11, 2019, Smith said he had two children who were 10 and 11 years old at the time. He was once married. He said, “It didn’t work out.

I was just telling my sister, “It’s none of your business,” about something related to my money and job. I made it clear that this is not a conversation. Smith is a fan of two local teams, the New York Yankees and the New York Knicks.
