On February 1, 2021, Ricky was charged with murder for the shooting death of his 34-year-old cousin. Silento was detained in an Atlanta suburb and is being held without bail in the county jail. In Los Angeles, he was also charged with assaulting two strangers with a hatchet. Silento is suspected of breaking into an unlocked residence and assaulting two people before being disarmed by one of them. Silento was barred from leaving the United Arab Emirates in February 2017 due to a business disagreement. After failing to perform two scheduled gigs in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain, a court judgment in Al Ain ordered the then-19-year-old to pay a local promoter 300,000 dirhams ($81,500).

The rapper was given a travel ban and was forced to relinquish his passport to the court until the case was resolved. Authorities said at the time that Richard was stopped and accused of going 143 mph on Interstate 85 in Georgia. He was accused of driving recklessly, speeding, failing to maintain lane, and halting improperly. After being pulled over, Silento reportedly fought with the officer over his driving speed, insisting that the officer was making a mistake. He then explained to the police that he was speeding because people generally followed him after his events and that he can travel up to 143 mph because he is not a “normal person.”
