Professional Career
Ferguson was signed as a solo artist, but Barrett was already assembling The Three Degrees, a group that also included Fayette Pinkney, Shirley Porter, and Linda Turner. In 1966, Janet Harmon, Helen Scott, and Fayette Pinkney were added to the roster.
On the other side, Scott announced that she would leave the group to be married. Ferguson had previously performed as a replacement for the group when one of the girls got sick, and Pinkney and Harmon asked her to join as a regular. In 1967, Harmon left the quartet, and Valerie Holiday filled her spot.
In 1976, they released the album A Toast of Love (for the Far Eastern market), and the song with the same name was released all over the world. This year, Fayette Pinkney left, and Helen Scott, a former member, took her place.
