Who is Riyaz Hussein?

According to cbc.ca, Toronto police Supt. Riyaz Hussein, the chief of the force’s disciplinary hearings branch, was charged with impaired driving following an accident in Pickering.
On Thursday, a car collided with the rear of a delivery truck on westbound Highway 401 at Brock Road, according to a video released on Friday by Ontario Provincial Police sergeant Kerry Schmidt.
Schmidt reports that Riyaz failed a roadside alcohol test. After being transported to the hospital with minor injuries, he was “medically cleared” prior to providing the breath sample that resulted in the accusations.
Schmidt does not identify the accused in the video, but others familiar with the case think that it is Hussein.
According to the press statement, Hussein, who has worked with the Toronto police for 33 years, has been suspended with pay. On February 10, he is set to appear in court in Oshawa.

According to the OPP, Hussein, 54, of Pickering, was charged with careless driving and open liquor following a two-car collision at approximately 7:00 p.m. The OPP’s Highway Safety Division tweeted that the driver rear-ended a delivery vehicle and sustained minor injuries.
According to reports, Hussein was sacked from the Toronto Police Department. He was not immediately available for comment.
Hussein is the current officer in charge of the force’s disciplinary hearings office, a quasi-judicial tribunal that reviews officer wrongdoing, such as driving under the influence.
