Ricardo Cruciani A Neurologist Was Found Dead At Rikers Island Correctional Facility

Ricardo Cruciani

Ricardo Cruciani, a former neurosurgeon and accused s*x offender, was found dead with a towel wrapped around his neck in the shower area of Rikers Island on Monday morning. According to the New York Times, Ricardo Cruciani, 68, was scheduled to be sentenced on September 14 for allegedly violating at least six patients.

Prosecutors assert that his strategy was to acquire female patients dependent on opioids before telling them that he would only offer the substance in exchange for criminal services. Prosecutors say he preyed on victims for over 15 years in New York City, Hopewell, and Philadelphia.

Ricardo Cruciani’s death

According to Fox News, Ricardo Cruciani entered the shower facilities at Rikers Prison at 4:23 a.m. At 5:35 p.m., an officer discovered his unconscious body, according to accounts.

He died almost one hour later. According to New York City Department of Corrections Commissioner Louis Molina, the cause of Cruciani’s death is still being investigated.

He declared:

“We will conduct an initial internal investigation to determine the cause of his death.” Our condolences and thoughts are with his family.”

According to the New York Post, Ricardo Cruciani, who pled guilty to 12 misbehavior-related counts, intended to appeal the verdict after his conviction. He faced the prospect of life in prison.

What specific charges were brought against Rudolph Cruciani?

According to Manhattan District Attorney Alvin L. Bragg Jr., Cruciani targeted women in several workplaces and hospitals, including New York’s Beth Israel Medical Center. In an official press statement, Bragg stated:

Ricardo Cruciani took advantage of the suffering of his patients and abused his authority as a physician.

He went on:

“We expect physicians to respect our bodies and health when we seek their assistance, but Dr. Cruciani entirely disregarded this commitment.” Dr. Cruciani left behind six survivors who are currently afflicted with major illnesses and years of stress.

Fred Sosinsky, Cruciani’s attorney, asserted that his client was falsely accused.

As stated by Sosinsky:

“It appears that the collective weight of six accusers prevailed, rather than a fair appraisal of each of their dubious testimony,”

He went on:

“However, we are confident that the trial court made a number of legal errors, which we look forward to addressing before the appellate courts.”

Although the death of Cruciani seemed to be a suicide, police have yet to establish this.
