Princess Anne Confers An Honorary Title To A James Bond

Princess Anne

The English actor Daniel Craig has been given the same honor bestowed upon his popular fictional character James Bond—that of Companion of the Order of St. Michael and St. George.

The 54-year-old actor received the honor from Princess Anne, the late Queen Elizabeth II’s daughter, on Tuesday, October 18, during an investiture ceremony held at Windsor Castle in recognition of his achievements in theater and film. Craig’s picture along with the famous line from the movie was tweeted by The Royal Family’s official Twitter account, which broke the news.

The CMG order was established in 1818 by King George IV when he was still Prince Regent. It is the sixth-most senior award in the British honors system.

Men and women who hold significant positions or who provide extraordinary or noteworthy non-military service to the United Kingdom in a foreign country frequently get the CMG. However, it may be given to persons who have contributed significantly or devotedly to international and Commonwealth affairs.

In the opening montage of the 2012 London Olympic Games, Daniel Craig played one of the 007 agents with the late Queen Elizabeth II. James Bond, played by Daniel Craig, receives a call from Buckingham Palace asking him to accompany the Queen to the Olympic Games. After that, it is displayed as the impersonators for the stunts jump from a helicopter and land in the arena.

In her book from 2019, the Queen’s assistant Angela Kelly, according to Hello! The magazine, describes how she pitched the idea to the late queen filmmaker Danny Boyle.

I remember Danny’s surprise when I approached Her Majesty so fast, but there was no use in procrastinating since if she said no, that was the end of it.

The Queen, she continued, was “very happy” and immediately agreed to the idea, but she wanted more than just to be in the movie.

“I then asked whether she was interested in a speaking part. Without hesitating, Her Majesty said, “Of course, I must say something.” After all, he is headed for my rescue.

Beginning with Casino Royale in 2006 and through with No Time To Die in 2021, Daniel Craig played James Bond in five different movies. He made his acting debut in The Power of One in 1992 as Sgt.

Botha. Anglo Saxon Attitudes, Zorro, Genghis Cohn, Our Friends in the North, The Fortunes and Misfortunes of Moll Flanders, Love & Rage, Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, Enduring Love, and Dream House are just a few of the movies and television shows in which Craig later made an appearance.
