Prince William Thinks That Diana Would Be Dissatisfied With The Degree Of Homelessness

Prince William

Prince William asserts that his mother, Princess Diana, would have been dissatisfied with the lack of progress made to avoid homelessness.

During a video filmed for this year’s Red Nose Day charity drive, he offered his opinions.

Prince of Wales spent time with folks helped by a homeless organization while filming the video.

His remarks will be broadcast on BBC One on Friday as part of Comic Relief’s annual fundraising campaign.

As a kid, Prince William was accompanied by his mother on visits to central London homeless shelters, such as the Passage.

“I’m very grateful that my mum alerted me to the issue of homelessness at an early age,” the prince said in the video to be screened during the Red Nose Day fundraiser.

“I believe she would be unhappy that we have made no progress in addressing and avoiding homelessness since she was interested in and involved in the issue.”

Comic Relief cites official government statistics indicating a 26% increase in rough sleeping in England over the past year, which it attributes to a “spiraling cost-of-living problem.”

The report however cautioned that the number of individuals sleeping on the street remained the “tip of the iceberg” in terms of the broader issue of homelessness.

Prince William spoke with beneficiaries of the charity Groundswell, which was financed by Comic Relief.

Among them was Miles, who told the prince:

“Homelessness is characterized by the absence of a safe zone; it is a solitary existence. You exist, you don’t live.”

Another guy in the movie, Nawshin, told him,

“I didn’t have an option but to leave home – I experienced a lot of childhood trauma and uncontrollable events transpired around me.”

Prince William is the patron of the Passage charity for the homeless. Last month, he inaugurated two residential structures that would house 225 people annually.

At the February inauguration ceremony in London, he refuted the notion that homelessness was a problem “inevitable”, stating that “solving homelessness must be viewed as more than a mere pipe dream.” Instead, it should be considered as a realistic objective “.

The prince stated,

“I am more committed than ever to cooperate with others to do all possible to end the human tragedy that is homelessness.”
