Preparations For The Liverpool Eurovision Festival Are Revealed

Eurovision

The first details on a cultural festival that will be hosted in Liverpool in conjunction with Eurovision are being revealed, along with a call for creatives to take part in the event.

According to Culture Liverpool, the event will showcase modern Ukraine, Eurovision, and music from the United Kingdom.

The Mayor of Liverpool stated that the festival was an important part of the city’s campaign to host the Eurovision Song Contest, and she also stated that she was “eager to unleash the potential of artists.”

The competition will be held in Liverpool after Ukraine was declared the champion in 2022.

Because of the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, the event in 2023 has been relocated to the United Kingdom.

Culture Liverpool has put out a call for artists, creatives, musicians, and performers to submit their suggestions for the development of an inclusive, thought-provoking, entertaining, and diverse cultural festival in the run-up to the major event in May.

It stated that it was open to receiving applications from creatives who resided in the countries that will be competing in Eurovision 2023, notable artists from Ukraine, and the Liverpool City Region.

‘Huge milestone

“Liverpool’s track record of producing unique, high-quality artistic events mixed with our ambition and determination to pay respect to our Ukrainian friends stood out to the judges,” said Joanne Anderson, the Mayor of Liverpool.

She stated that the initiation of the culture commissions call-out was a significant landmark in the process of our planning.

She stated that Liverpool is “eager to unleash the potential of artists from all over the world” because the city “thrives on innovation” and “is willing to push limits.”

According to Culture Liverpool, the deadline for expressions of interest will be on December 12th, and successful applicants in the first stage will be given an initial $2,000 in money to formally develop their concept.

It was also mentioned that the Eurovision education and community program plans will be revealed at the beginning of the next year.

The semi-finals of Eurovision will be held in the M&S Bank Arena in Liverpool on the 9th and 11th of May, and the final will take place there on the 13th of May.
