Power Rangers Actor Jason David Frank Passes Away At 49

Jason David Frank

Jason David Frank, an actor best known for playing Tommy Oliver in the Power Rangers TV series, passed away at the age of 49. He passed away on Saturday in Texas, according to his manager Justine Hunt, who also called him a “great human being.”

In the first season of the program, Frank’s persona debuted as the Green Ranger and was introduced to the audience as a rival of the Power Rangers.

But he ultimately changed for the better and became the White Ranger.

When faced with the loss of such a beautiful human being, Hunt requested “the privacy of his family and friends during this awful time.”

The three-year run of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers on Fox Kids began in 1993, and the vigilante action heroes rapidly gained a following among young viewers.

The series continued over the ensuing years with several fresh modifications and adaptations, with Frank frequently reprising his role in the show and growing popularity with the audience.

One of Frank’s on-screen co-stars, Walter Jones, posted the following on Instagram: “Unbelievable… Jason David Frank, rest in peace. The loss of another member of our unique family breaks my heart.”

Co-star Thuy Trang, who passed away at the age of 27 in 2001 from injuries received in a car accident, passed away 20 years before Frank.

The Power Rangers’ archenemy Rita Repulsa had put Frank’s Green Ranger under a spell when he first appeared in the series as an opponent.

Frank was supposed to make a brief appearance, but due to the character’s popularity with fans, he ended up being a series regular.

The White Ranger was the character that Frank played for the two seasons that followed after the Green Ranger was released from Rita’s control over his mind.

Power Rangers Turbo, Power Rangers Zeo, Power Rangers Wild Force, Power Rangers Megaforce, Power Rangers: DinoThunder, and Power Rangers Ninja Steel are just a few of the reboots and spin-offs in which Frank made an appearance.

In addition to being an on-screen action hero, Frank had a black belt in karate and had training in several other martial arts, such as Taekwondo, Judo, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and Muay Thai.

The World Karate Union Hall of Fame and the Black Belt Hall of Fame both inducted the actor.

In addition, he co-founded the Rising Sun Karate Academy and taught martial arts. He is survived by two daughters and two sons.
