Poppy Proudfellow Is Portrayed By Megan Richards In “The Lord Of The Rings: The Rings of Power”

Megan Richards, who played in BBC One’s Wanderlust, will play Poppy Proudfellow in the upcoming television series The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, based on J.R.R. Tolkien’s literary trilogy.

This Friday, the much-anticipated adaptation of the Lord of the Rings universe will debut as an eight-part series on Prime Video. Around nine o’clock, the first two episodes will air. EDT on August 2, 2022.

According to the official plot summary of the series:

“Beginning in a period of relative quiet, we follow an ensemble cast of heroes as they confront the re-emergence of evil in Middle-earth. These nations and individuals will leave legacies that will endure long after they are gone, from the deepest depths of the Misty Mountains to the beautiful woods of Lindon, to the breathtaking island kingdom of Nmenor, to the farthest reaches of the world.”

The drama will unfold over many seasons, chronicling the Second Age, a time when calm reigned in Middle-earth until one of its greatest calamities wreaked havoc.

Lord Sauron, the malevolent enemy, will be the primary antagonist. The English actress who will play Poppy Proudfellow in The Rings of Power is Megan Richards.

The English actress Megan Richards, who is 20 years old, previously starred in the BBC 1/Netflix series Wanderlust. Megan attended The Brit School and West London Drama Training to study drama. In 2018, she made her acting debut in Nick Payne’s series Wanderlust.

She was also a guest on the BBC1 program Doctors. Richards spent the majority of 2019 acting in the German film Pan Tau.

She also appeared in National Theater Connections’ Extremism at the Soho Theater. She is a talented vocalist and musician who plays the piano, saxophone, and guitar.

Megan Richards adds, “I’m delighted to create a universe that exists only in my imagination.” In an exclusive interview with Collider, the actress expressed her excitement about the premiere of the new series.

Megan Richards said,

“I’m glad that we have the opportunity to present a completely fictional universe. It is nothing more than the logical conclusion of pure imagination. And I’m pleased that the audience will be able to witness not only the performers’ but also the crew’s and production’s hard work.”

She went on,

“And just to see everything that’s been made, manufactured, and envisioned, and to sort of immerse people in the universe that we’re fortunate to play in.”

Richards responded that her favorite episode of the eight-part series was

“Several of the episodes have many qualities that I absolutely appreciate. Something takes place in two, and something takes place in three. I am fond of the number seven. Let’s begin with number 7. Seven is an incredible number.”

She went on,

“We have many exciting activities planned for two. Hence, if you consider the numbers 2 and 7, that is when the adventure begins. It is the journey of a series, correct? That is extremely exciting. It is exciting.”

Poppy Proudfellow is a Harfoot, one of the three hobbit species mentioned in the novel, and her closest companion is Nori (played by Markella Kavenagh).

Richards supposedly referred to them as “the ying to each other’s yang,” and they are sometimes compared to Merry and Pippen from The Fellowship of the Ring. Richards added that her character is “the more cautious of the two and tries to rein in Nori.”
