Penny Marshall, 75, died on December 17, 2018, in her Hollywood Hills home of complications from diabetes and heart disease.

She had previously fought lung cancer and won, according to Los Angeles Times.

Her death was caused by heart failure, specifically cardiac arrest. She left her Hollywood Hills home in the company of her loved ones.

Penny Marshall’s Family Life

Penny was married twice in her life. From 1961 to 1963, it belonged to actor Michael Henry, and from 1971 to 1981, it belonged to filmmaker Rob Reiner.

Marshall met Michael Henry while on a football scholarship at the University of New Mexico. When she was 19, she became pregnant and they married in November 1963.

Tracy was born in 1964 after Marshall dropped out of school to work as a secretary, Marshall told Newsweek in a 2012 interview.

Marshall and Henry did, however, divorce in 1966. Henry remarried and had a second daughter after relocating to Colorado.

Marshall married actor/director Rob Reiner in 1971. Tracy is still referred to as “Tracy Reiner” despite Marshall and Reiner’s divorce in 1981 because he formally adopted her.
