Pele Claims That Health Issues Are Typical For Individuals His Age

Pele

For the first time since his son alleged that Pele was unwilling to leave his home, the legendary Brazilian forward has spoken out, claiming that his health difficulties are “common for people my age.”

The three-time World Cup champion, 79, was “embarrassed,” according to Pele’s son Edinho, to require a frame to walk due to hip issues.

However, Pele, who is regarded as the best player to ever play, said:

“I’m OK. In the greatest way I can, I continue to accept my physical limits, but I want to keep the ball moving.”

Over the course of a 21-year career, Pele set a global record with 1,281 goals in 1,363 games, including 77 for Brazil in 91 games.

He underwent prostate surgery in 2015 and was hospitalized last year for a urinary infection.

But according to the player’s acquaintances, this January was one of his busiest in recent memory. He previously played for Santos and the New York Cosmos.

Pele is working with a British director on a documentary on his time playing football in addition to participating in picture shoots and sponsorship business.

In a statement, he continued,

“I am not postponing honoring the responsibilities in my always-busy calendar.

“I have both good and bad days. That is typical for individuals my age. I have courage, determination, and confidence in my abilities.”
