Norman Baker is a well-known politician in the United Kingdom. His birthplace is Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire, Scotland, where he was born on July 26, 1957. Norman was born in 1957 and is known to be a successful politician. He is also listed among the wealthiest people in the United Kingdom. “Norman” is his initial name, and “Baker” is his surname name.

Early Life and Bio

Baker was born in Aberdeen, but relocated to Hornchurch, east London, with his family in 1968. He received his education at the Royal Liberty School in Gidea Park, near Romford, and at Royal Holloway College, the University of London, where he earned a BA in German and History in 1978.

Baker joined the Liberal Party in 1981 while living in Islington and describes himself as a “sleeping” party member in his memoir, with only one canvassing session in six years. In 1985, he joined the then-Ecology Party before running for his first council seat in Lewes District Council’s Ouse Valley ward in 1987. Two years later, in 1989, he was elected to the East Sussex County Council. In 1991, he was elected as the Leader of Lewes District Council, a position he held until his election as a Member of Parliament in 1997.

Outside of politics, Baker worked for Our Price Records for five years, starting in 1978. From 1983 to 1985, he worked at the Malling Street Service Station in Lewes. From 1985 until 1997, he taught English as a foreign language, with a brief stint in the House of Commons as a Liberal Democrat environment researcher in 1989–90.

After graduating from university, he worked as a Regional Director for Our Price Records and as an English as a Foreign Language teacher. In 1987, he was elected to the Lewes District Council as a local councilor, and in 1991, he was elected as the Liberal Democrat Leader.
