Nik Bentel – Everything About The Bizarre Designer

Nik Bentel

The well-known Pasta Bag design created by the quirky designer Nik Bentel has reappeared. The fashion genius made headlines last summer with his crossbody bag inspired by Barilla, but he now promises an update for the iconic bag’s sequel launch.

Nikolas “Nik” Bentel is a fashion designer who transforms common objects into amazing pieces of art. The product designer, an alumnus of the Brown-RISD dual degree program, has worked with several companies to bring unorthodox product design to life.

More about Pasta Bags’ founder, Nik Bentel?

Bentel identifies himself on Instagram as a “maker of things, large, small, and everything in between.” Additionally, he offers new goods every month.

The designer, who focuses heavily on craftsmanship, often approaches his concepts in a futuristic manner. In addition to being famed for the Botticelli dress, Bentel is also credited with creating the Pasta Bag.

Bentel was motivated to build his viral Pasta Bag after purchasing his 100th bag of penne during the lockdown, which spurred him to design the product.

He decided to rethink the Barilla pack, which resulted in an enormous success. Notably, this is the first time that Bentel has reintroduced a limited edition design.

The Pasta Bag: All the Information You Need

A few Twitter accounts acquired access to the photographs Bentel had provided to the press in order to make the fashion item public in 2012 at first. The fashion entrepreneur told Food & Wine that the Pasta Bag became viral because of the photos that were disseminated.

Bentel noticed that his crossbody bag was a success after a deluge of orders via his website. Additionally, he stated that the number of preorders he received greatly surpassed his budget.

He ultimately had to withdraw the link for preorders because he feared he would not have enough bags for the actual launch. On the day the performance artist exhibited the Pasta Bag, there was a large number of buyers, and the item reportedly sold out in 10 minutes.

Bentel believed that approximately 60,000 people visited his website. The designer was inspired to reintroduce the limited edition crossbody Pasta Bag upon reflection. He expressed his feelings of accomplishment as follows:

“I had not expected it to occur in this fashion. I was sitting alone in my room, internally screaming. It was fantastic, especially at ten o’clock in the morning when you hadn’t had any coffee.”

The success was “humbling” for the New York-based bag designer, but he also conceded that few fashion enthusiasts who had demanded the leather bag could afford it. Bentel felt the need for a fashionable successor, therefore on Wednesday, June 8, Pasta Bag 2.0 was released.

Similar to the original concept, the new Pasta Bag line is a limited edition of 100 bags. Bentel, on the other hand, introduced more of his own ideas and another pasta brand named De Cecco, among other modifications.
