Nessa Barrett’s Parents Disapproved Of Her Career Goals In Los Angeles

Nessa Barrett

As a senior in high school, Nessa Barrett created a TikTok account with her classmates for amusement. In less than a year, she gained close to 10 million followers on the platform.

Before she turned 18, the TikTok celebrity moved alone to a residence in Los Angeles, leaving her small New Jersey community. Her parents, father Drew Barrett and mother Nez Barrett weren’t happy about her decision to seek a profession in Los Angeles, though.

The parents of Nessa Barrett were dissatisfied with her career choice

Barrett admitted that her parents weren’t initially pleased with her plan to come to LA in a 2021 interview with Zachsang Show. The social media star recalled that her parents had warned her she couldn’t succeed in the city’s music scene.

She however disproved her parents and acquired her apartment and vehicle at the age of 17. She then apologized to Barrett for underestimating her after witnessing her hard work and dedication to her music and career.

Barrett claimed in a 2020 interview with Elite that her mother was both tremendously supportive and awestruck. She said her mother would never have thought she could leave home and live alone.

Nessa Barrett desired a career in the music business

Barrett, who was raised in a musical family, has always aspired to work in the music business. Her dad used to compose music at a studio that she had in her home.

Additionally, her parents gave her a miniature toy studio for Christmas. At age four, the singer made her recording debut. Even in kindergarten, she sang in choruses and scribbled lyrics in notebooks.

Barrett was later reared in Galloway by her mother following her parents’ divorce, where she struggled to fit in. She was Puerto Rican in a wealthy, white neighborhood, to start.

Because she was the only Hispanic resident of an apartment with a single mother, Barrett believed she was the only Hispanic student at her school.

She humorously wrote in February 2021, “I don’t know how else to explain my childhood other than I have a Taurus mom and an Aries dad. rip,” about her early years.

It is safe to say that Barrett and her mother have a tight relationship. In her song “Die First,” she released a video of her and her mother when they were younger.

She captioned the song, dedicating it to her mother: “I cried while making this. For my mum, I wrote this song. When you hear this song, consider your family.”

The TikToker even has a tattoo of her mother on the inside of her right arm. “I loved you at your darkest,” is written in the ink. In the same spot, her mother also has a tattoo of a word that makes her think of Barrett.
