How did Nathan Fillion start his Professional Career?

Nathan Fillion moved to New York City in 1994 after working in several theatres, television shows, and films, including Rapid Fire Theatre’s Theatresports and the improvised soap opera Die-Nasty.

In New York City, he portrayed Joey Buchanan on the soap opera “One Life to Live.” For this performance, he was nominated for a “Daytime Emmy Award” for Outstanding Younger Actor in a Drama Series in 1996. Similarly, he left the series in 1997 to pursue other projects, but he returned in 2007 for a brief cameo.

After moving to Los Angeles, Nathan appeared as a supporting character in the sitcom “Two Guys, a Girl, and a Pizza Place.” In Steven Spielberg’s Saving Private Ryan, he played James Frederick “The Minnesota” Ryan.

In addition, in 2007, Nathan Fillion and author PJ Haarsma founded the non-profit organization Kids Need to Read. This was done to help inspire children’s imaginations by putting more books and study materials in underfunded libraries.
