Teofimo Lopez is a successful professional boxer who has won many honors throughout his career. He is the finest active lightweight in the world and the fifth-best active boxer overall, per ESPN. Teofimo started boxing professionally in 2016.

Teofimo, who has a perfect 16-0 record, will next compete against George Kambosos Jr., who also has a perfect record. The fight between López and Kambosos Jr. will take place at Florida’s LoanDepot Park on June 19, 2021.

Teofimo is successful in both his marriage and boxing. He has been happily married to Cynthia López since 2019.

Teofimo and Cynthia Lopez’s Love Story

The Lopez couple’s bond is distinctive. On May 12, 2018, Teofimo encountered Cynthia en route from his bout with Vitor Jones Freitas to Las Vegas.

The boxer stayed to himself on the flight since he didn’t want to chat with anyone. But after he had a conversation with a flight attendant, things were different.

As he stowed his gloves in the overhead bin, a flight attendant complimented them. She enquired if he had just lost a fight after hearing that he was a boxer. Is it looking like I lost, he haughtily asked the flight attendant. When she left Teofimo alone, he was already in love.

The concerned flight attendant was Cynthia. The boxer kept going back to visit her while making up different justifications.

When he asked her age, he learned that she was 25, making her over five years older than he was. At Dave & Buster’s in Las Vegas, Teofimo proposed to Cynthia. Before Teofimo reached 21, Cynthia said she did not want to date him.

The boxer agreed with Cynthia’s worries, but he was unyielding. On the contrary, he frequently displayed interest in her and sent her flowers. At first, Teofimo’s success as a boxer seemed arrogant to Cynthia.

But when she talked with him more, she saw that there was more to him. He laughed with her, encouraged her, and acknowledged her. She quickly started to feel the same way.

After Teofimo turned 21 in August of last year, Cynthia visited him at home. Would you be my boyfriend? asked for a handcrafted card that she brought with her along with flowers, champagne, cake, and other goodies. The fighter agreed to the arrangement, and the two moved to Brooklyn together.

The couple was hitched on April 23, 2019, in the future. The ceremony was held in Arkansas because it was where Cynthia’s parents lived. Three months after their wedding, the newlyweds had their honeymoon in Greece. They are still in a contented marriage. They did, however, have to work together to overcome several challenges, most notably the Lopez family’s opposition.

Teofimo’s family did not like Cynthia

Since Cynthia asked Lopez to be her boyfriend, his manager and family have only been able to find fault with him. Her reputation as a gold seeker led him to advise his client that the relationship would not work out.

The decision had been fiercely resisted by Teofimo’s family, which infuriated the fighter. The boxer’s father, Teofimo Lopez Sr., served as both his sole trainer and biggest supporter. Lopez Sr. and his father had a tense relationship, and he didn’t want the past to repeat itself.

Teofimo took up the role of the family provider at a young age. He was supporting his parents, his sisters, and his niece. When his relatives disparaged Cynthia, he didn’t like it. The Lopez women didn’t show up at his nuptials.

His mother, Jenny, was annoyed that the wedding was happening so rapidly. She didn’t mind Cynthia, but she didn’t enjoy the way they were together. His sister Adriana and his wife also didn’t get along well.

Due to the tense relationship between his sister and wife, Teofimo has forbidden Adriana from visiting him. Even Lopez Sr. declined to go to the nuptials. But his only motivation for going was to strengthen his bond with his son.

Seeing his son Lopez Jr. get married so young disturbed Lopez Sr. So to ease the anguish and get through the day, he came to the ceremony intoxicated. Teofimo married the love of his life despite all the conflict in the family.

Teofimo eventually paid a price for the closeness between his wife and family. After the couple returned from their honeymoon, he developed depression. Teofimo’s emotions were out of control. He was crying and upset all the time. He was also drinking way too much.

Inspiring her husband that he was not alone, Cynthia convinced him to visit a counselor. Teofimo progressively got better as she helped him accept his suffering. He continues to be an unbeaten boxer, works out with his dad, and is happier than ever with his wife and pets.
