Lane Kiffin

Lane Kiffin

Lane Kiffin, the football coach, was a relatively unknown guy, largely known to football aficionados. Nonetheless, once reports of him having a sexual relationship with his head coach’s daughter arose in 2015, he quickly became one of the most sought things on the internet.

Lane, who had a lovely family consisting of a wife and three children before the gossip, had to bid farewell to his wife as the revelation of his affair generated tension in his marriage and eventually led to divorce.

Lane Kiffin’s Brief Bio and Career

Kiffin was born on the 9th of May, 1975. Monte Kiffin, his father, was a defensive coordinator in the National Football League, most notably for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Similarly, his brother Chris is the Cleveland Browns’ Defensive Line Coach.

Lane graduated from Bloomington Jefferson High School in Minnesota in 1994 and went on to play college football at Fresno State. His time as a quarterback for the Fresno State Bulldogs led to his becoming a Student Assistant Coach under coach Jeff Tedford until 1998.

He worked as a graduate assistant at Colorado State University for a year after that. Then he became an excellent assistant coach for the Jacksonville Jaguars.

He worked for the University of Southern California (USC) for over 5 years as a tight end coach, wide receiver coach, and offensive coordinator.

Pete Carroll initially hired him as a Tight End coach in 2001. He was given the role of wide receiver coach for two years (2002-2004). He was elevated to offensive coordinator in 2005.

Following a great tenure at USC, he was hired by Al Davis, owner of the Oakland Raiders, in 2007. However, Davis sacked him, stating that he (Lane) had brought discredit to the group.

In 2009, he was a member of the University of Tennessee Volunteers for a year. Then USC hired him again, this time as a coach. He stayed for three years before joining the Alabama Crimson Tide football team in 2014.

After two years, he became the head coach at Florida Atlantic University. He guided the squad to their second c-USA championship and a 10-win season.

He accepted the head coaching position with the Ole Miss Rebels in December 2019.

Lane Kiffin’s Ex-Wife: Is She Dating Anyone Now?

Lane and his wife were previously seen to be a perfect match; unfortunately, due to an unfortunate turn of circumstances, the marriage did not continue for more than a decade.

The Lincoln, Nebraska native met Layla Kiffin (Greer Reaves) in 1999 through his father, Monte, who was an NFL defensive coordinator at the time. The couple’s romance quickly grew, and they got engaged after only three months of dating.

Lane even asked Layla’s father’s approval before proposing to her. In an old interview, Layla’s father, Dan Reaves, discussed Lane’s proposal.

“I expected him to say he was leaving coaching and looking for work. Instead, he inquired about marrying my daughter. ‘Is he serious?’ I asked when I called her. I wasn’t meant to ruin the surprise. That that day, they purchased an engagement ring.”

Lane and his wife Layla Kiffin were married on July 1, 2004. Layla gave birth to her first child, a daughter named Landry, a year after her marriage. Pressley, the couple’s second daughter, was born two years later.

Lane and his wife welcomed their first child, a son named Knox after Knoxville, in 2009.

Lane and his wife had a nice life with their children, celebrating various occasions together. For example, on January 3, 2012, Lane tweeted to wish his wife a happy 37th birthday. He stated on Twitter,

“Layla, happy 37th birthday!”

However, by August 2015, reports began to circulate that Lane had an extramarital affair with Kristen, the daughter of University of Alabama head coach Nick Saban.

The rumors spread like wildfire, and trolls mocked Lane for his adultery all over the internet. An unnamed user even modified his Wikipedia page to insult the former USC head coach.

While the reports were never proven, they finally reached Layla’s ears, prompting her to file for divorce on February 28, 2016, citing irreconcilable differences.

Lane informed Fox Sports about the couple’s choice to divorce:

“Layla and I have mutually chosen to divorce after much thought and consideration. We are completely committed to making our children’s future our top priority. We shall maintain a cordial relationship and mutual respect as we raise these three amazing children.”

Lane Kiffin’s wife requested spousal support as part of the divorce settlement, and he was ordered to pay 34.5 percent of his total income. Lane was later relieved of his duties as Offensive Coordinator, which caused him financial difficulties. In an interview with Pete Thamel, he was even heard saying,

“I pay about 52% of my income in taxes.” Layla receives 34.5 percent of the divorce settlement, while [agent Jimmy Sexton] receives 3 percent. I make [about] 9% and live in Tuscaloosa.”

Despite the divorce, Lane maintains friendly relations with his ex-wife, and Layla occasionally names her ex-husband in social media posts.

On October 2, 2016, Layla posted a photo of herself with her children, reminding Lane that his children were the most significant prizes he could ever achieve.

He is not known to be dating anyone, much like his ex-wife, who is still alone following their divorce.

Even if he is dating someone, Lane would undoubtedly keep his girlfriend’s identity hidden, as he must have learned the hard way the last time.
