Lance Briggs Professional Career
In 2003 NFL Draft, Briggs was a third-round draft pick in 68th overall, by the Chicago Bears. In 2004, he was elected as a second alternate to the Pro Bowl.
Additionally, Briggs represents the National Football Conference in the 2006 Pro Bowl. However, Briggs was involved in a controversy that caused him for a temporary demotion, when he refused to attend the Bears’ summer camp. In 2006 he completed Chicago Bears season as a clutch performer on the Bears’ defense.
In 2007, Briggs got the opportunity to play in the Pro Bowl, unfortunately, he had declined the invitation because of an injured foot. So, He became a free agent following the 2007 playoffs. Although Briggs’ was known for his high price tag, Brian Urlacher was willing to take a pay-cut in order to keep Briggs on the team, a source from NFL on Fox revealed.
In the same year 2007, the Bears officially placed the franchise tag on him, which scored him a one-year contract for the year 2007 NFL season at slightly more than $7.2 million. Moreover, Briggs was featured on the Mike North Morning Show and stated he was not satisfied with the amount he was currently earning.

Additionally, he said he was fed up with the organization and no longer wanted to be a Bear, so demanded a trade. Briggs was very vocal about his unhappiness. Subsequently, he said in an interview with a Chicago radio station that
“I’ll do everything that’s within my power to not be with this organization”- His words.
On 1st March 2008, he got re-signed to a six-year with $36 million despite his comment. In 2011, Briggs had three years left on the six-year contract he asked for a raise. Despite the contact, Briggs and his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, formally asked the Bears organization for a trade.
However, Briggs was selected for the 2012 Pro Bowl team but was unable to play due to an ankle injury. In 2012, Briggs was given a one-year extension, in his contract through 2014.
In 2013 Beers played against the Washington Redskins, where Briggs suffered a fracture in his shoulder. But He was able to join the Bears in week 16, however, beers lost with 54-11 to the Philadelphia Eagles. On September 02, 2015, Briggs officially retired and became a free agent.
