Kayla began her career as a HOPES gymnast in 2016, and by 2017, she had qualified for the Brestyan National qualifications and had advanced to the Junior Elite. She joined the USA national gymnastics team in 2018, and her first formal competition as a representative was at the 2018 Pacific Rim gymnastics championships, where she won gold and silver medals in various events. The same year, she competed in the American Classic, where she won first place in both the junior and senior divisions. She also had the opportunity to compete in the 2018 US Classic, where she finished second. She earned several medals at the 2018 US National Championships.
In 2019, she competed in the WOGA Classic and the 2019 City of Jesolo Trophy, where she led the team to a silver medal. The following year, she competed in the Junior World Championship, where she helped the team win a bronze medal. She also earned a gold medal in vault and floor exercises at the 2019 USA National Championships. She made her senior debut in the American Cup, where she finished second and set some incredible scores.
The following year, in 2021, she also competed in the Uneven bars and balancing events at the American Classic, finishing second. Kayla DiCello also competed in the GK UK classic, finishing third in all rounds. She finished 11th in the National Championships and qualified for the Olympic national team through trials.
