Theatr Clwyd has disclosed its new creative director. Kate Wasserberg, who has directed significant shows on national and international tours, will assume the position at the theater in Mold.

She was most recently the venue’s associate director and directed plays like All My Sons, Insignificance, and The Rise and Fall of Little Voice.

She said,

“I am ecstatic to be joining the incredible team that will lead this organization into a prosperous future.”

“I cannot wait to commence. Wales has the finest artists in the world, and I am incredibly honored to be able to live there.”

Ms. Wasserberg will collaborate with executive director Liam Evans-Ford, who stated, “It will be an honor to work with Kate, and I am confident that with her artistic direction, the company will continue to thrive.

“The quality of Kate’s theatrical productions, her knowledge of and admiration for Welsh theater and Welsh talent, and her profound love and appreciation for Theatr Clwyd are only a few of the reasons for such enthusiasm.”

Tamara Harvey, who succeeded Terry Hands at Theatre Clwyd in 2015, tweeted that her departure was “heart-wrenching.”

She noted that it was “extraordinary to learn that the brilliant, sensitive, hilarious, and ferociously accomplished Kate Wasserberg will now serve as creative director.”

Ms. Wasserberg will assume the position later this year. The Theatr Clwyd is receiving a £42 million makeover that will be finished in 2024.
