Justin Fuente is a former American football player and current football coach. He was Virginia Tech’s football coach and was named ACC Coach of the Year. Fuente has previously served as head football coach at the University of Memphis and as an assistant coach at Texas Christian University.

After six seasons with Virginia Tech, team management decided to replace him, and he will no longer be the team’s quarterback. He also taught at Illinois State University as an assistant professor. He has experience coaching qualifying quarterbacks such as three-time pro bowler Andy Dalton, first-round pick Paxton Lynch, and Jerod Evans (who plays for Arena Football as a quarterback).

Throughout his high school and collegiate careers, Justin was a quarterback. Before transferring to Murray State University, he was a redshirt sophomore at the University of Oklahoma. Fuente was an outstanding player in his junior, senior, and sophomore years.

Jenny was a high school athlete, and her coach, Scott, was a year her senior. She was a graduate student who volunteered for her volleyball team. Jenny met Justin Fuente while he was coaching Galen. They met through Galen and have since gone on to become well-known figures. They later married in 2005 and now have three daughters.

How did Justin Fuente start his Professional Career?

Justin went to Union High School in Tulsa, where he graduated with nearly 6,104 yards and 65 touchdowns. He led the state in both passing yards and touchdown passes in 1994. Fuente signed his first contract with the Wranglers as their third-string quarterback in May 2000, but due to limited playing time in 2000 and 2001, he left the team in May 2001 to pursue a college coaching position at Illinois State University.

Coaching

Fuente began his career in 2001, working under coach Denver Johnson. He played for Johnson as an assistant coach at Oklahoma and the head coach at Murray State. After three years in the same position, Fuente was promoted to offensive coordinator, a position he held until 2006. Following this position, he accepted another as TCU’s running back coach.

In 2009, he was promoted to the co-offensive coordinator at TCU, where he helped many players achieve their life goals and become the people they are today. Andy Dalton was one of those individuals. Fuente led the Horned Frogs to an undefeated season and the Rose Bowl in 2011.

Fuente signed a contract with Virginia Tech to become the head coach on November 29, 2015. At the time, he took over for departing coach Frank Beamer. Virginia Tech and Fuente later agreed to extend the contract until 2023.\
