Jimmy Butler played a total of 106 games for Marquette where he averaged 12.0 per game. After graduation from college, he was drafted for the 2011 NBA and was chosen by the Chicago Bulls as their 30th overall pick.

On December 9, 2011, He signed his rookie contract with the Bulls and in That season witnessed the fourth and the most recent NBA lockout in the history of the league.

2011-2012 season

2013-2014 season

In the following season, Butler was part of the Bulls’ roster for the NBA Summer League. He played in the four games, where he scored 20.8 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 2.0 assists on average. Eventually, his contract was extended through the 2013–14 season. But Butler was not utilized that often until one of his teammates, Luol Deng, had an injury. Butler was often picked to replace Deng.

Butler got registered in the highest playoffs career for the second straight game by racking up 31 points in the Bulls’ 91–82 win over the Milwaukee Bucks. He continued that up with another playoff career-high with 33 points against the Bucks on 25 April. But unfortunately lost to the Cleveland Cavaliers in the semi-finals.

Butler became the first in the Bulls’ history in 2015, to win the NBA Most Improved Player award. On 13 April, Bulls played their last game of the season, against the Philadelphia 76ers, where Butler scored triple-double with 10 points, 12 rebounds, and 10 assists. In his last season with the Bulls, on October 27, 2016, Butler gave a spectacular performance. He played an important role in the Bulls’ victory in their season opener against the Boston Celtics scoring a team-high 24 points.

On 20 November, he was registered in a season-high 40 points against the Los Angeles Lakers. He became the player of the week as the Eastern Conference Player from 14 November to 20 November. At the end of the season, Butler had appeared in 76 games in the regular season with an average of 23.9 points per game and in six games in the Playoffs at an average of 22.7 points per game.

In 2018, He continued to play in regular seasons, where he played a total of 59 games with the Timberwolves, averaging 22.2 points per game and five games in the playoffs, averaging 15.8 points per game.
