Hugh Jackman, The Actor Has Been Given The All Clear From His Skin Cancer

Hugh Jackman

Hugh Jackman, an actor from Australia, has returned to social media with the announcement that the results of his most recent skin cancer testing came back negative.

“The results of my biopsies were negative!!!” I’d like to thank EVERYONE for their love. I can feel it!” he wrote in the post.

This week, the actor who plays Wolverine disclosed that he had been examined further following his previous medical checkup.

In 2013, Hugh Jackman underwent surgery to remove his first skin cancer, and he has undergone at least six further surgeries since then.

The actor reiterated his message on the importance of sun protection by writing:

“Please keep in mind to always wear sunscreen with a high level of SPF, regardless of the season.”

Following the discovery by Jackman’s physician of “little things that could be, or could not be basal cell [carcinomas],” the actor decided to undergo the necessary testing.

Overexposure to UV rays from the sun or tanning beds is the root cause of basal cell carcinoma, which is a type of skin cancer that is not malignant and hence has a much lower risk of spreading.

The National Health Service (NHS) reports that treatment for non-melanoma skin malignancies is successful in ninety percent of cases.

In Australia, more than 11,500 people are diagnosed with melanoma each year, and an estimated 434,000 are treated for various forms of skin cancer. This makes Australia the world’s leader in the incidence of skin cancer.
