Honey Boo Boo: Where Is Alana Thompson now?

Alana Thompson

Alana Thompson ” Honey Boo Boo” became well-known for her role in the TLC series Toddlers & Tiaras. The taunt that gave rise to the nickname “Honey Boo Boo” was directed at another candidate, but owing to widespread fan misunderstanding, Alana ended up with the moniker. She was also cast in the Here Comes Honey Boo Boo four-season television series.

After Alana’s mother, June “Mama June” Shannon, was spotted with a guy convicted of serious child abuse, TLC terminated the show in 2014. Alana’s time in the spotlight continued as TLC debuted Mama June: From Not to Hot, a reality series centered on June Shannon.

Where is Alana Thompson now?

Thompson argues that her name is Alana and has rejected the name Honey Boo Boo. In an interview with Teen Vogue in August 2021, Thompson asserts, “My mama did not name me Honey Boo Boo.” Alana is my name.

Honey Boo Boo and Alana, according to Alana, are “totally two distinct persons.” Despite Alana’s insistence that Honey Boo Boo is no longer the well-known persona, she is grateful to Honey Boo Boo for helping her succeed. Thompson clarifies:

“I guess people still think of me as little Honey Boo Boo, even though I’m no longer that. People assume I’ll be a country bumpkin who rides four-wheelers all the time just because I’m from the South, but that’s not exactly how it is.

Thompson doesn’t have any immediate plans to return to the screen. She commended herself for continuing even after her mother was detained for drug possession and said she is looking forward to being the best version of herself. Alana continued:

“You know, I want to have a life. When I do have children, I want to be able to support them and all that. It is unquestionably advantageous both now and in the future.

Alana has made progress with her mother and is dating Drain Carswell. After six months of dating, Alana and Drain Carswell made their Instagram relationship official.

Thompson captioned the now-deleted picture, “Spooky season.” That’s How I Roll was printed on matching t-shirts worn by the two people. Alana previously admitted to Teen Vogue that she only has her boyfriend as a friend:

I don’t have many pals, to be completely honest. At all. People seem to be saying, “Oh, my God, I’m friends with Honey Boo Boo,” a lot, in my opinion. I have no pals since I genuinely don’t trust anyone.

According to a source who spoke with The Sun, Thompson and Carswell “are connected at the hip.” The insider claimed that “they hang out together all the time.”

He was reserved at first, but now he feels like a member of the family. He shares the same wild and lively personality as the others.

In the meantime, Alana and her mother have taken steps to restore their relationship. On The Masked Singer, the duo made an appearance dressed as a beach ball and sang Party in the USA.

Alana and Mama June frequently cross paths because they are filming Mama June: Road to Redemption and are only 15 minutes apart. Alana stated to ETonline:

“I think we’re working on ourselves right now and trying to mend the relationship. Although I don’t believe it is fully corrected, it is unquestionably on the right track.

After her mother was detained for drug charges, Alana moved in with her sister Lauryn “Pumpkin” Shannon.

Alana continues to live with her sister Lauryn “Pumpkin” Shannon as of 2021. After Mama June was detained on drug possession and paraphernalia charges in 2019, Lauryn was appointed Honey’s legal guardian. She was taken into custody along with her boyfriend Eugene “Geno” Edward Doak, who was also facing drug charges and a third-degree domestic abuse accusation.

The Blast reported in April 2020 that a court had ordered the postponing of the pair’s criminal trial because of the coronavirus pandemic after they entered a not-guilty plea. The family held an intervention for Mama June during the May 2019 season finale of Mama June: From Not to Hot to persuade her to alter her behavior.

As she described the difficult choice to leave Mama June’s home and stay with Lauryn, Honey Boo Boo sobbed. I wish I could come home and stay with you and tell you about my day, but I’m too afraid, Alana said. “Staying at your home makes me nervous. All I want is my mother back.

Lauryn has additional responsibilities due to living with Alana and raising her 3-year-old kid. She admitted to having to adjust to the role of “sister-mom” to Entertainment Tonight. Lauryn clarified:

Alana Thompson needs her mother and being younger has made it more challenging. As a result, getting used to being her “sister mom” has been extremely difficult for both me and her. Of course, she was also away from her mother. She had spent her entire life living with her mother, but now she had to leave that house and move in with us.

Lauryn is doing a terrific job being a parent and a sister despite the challenges. On March 24, 2021, Pumpkin posted a montage of photos including Alana wearing false eyelashes and long nails. In the caption, she responded to everyone who had criticized her sister’s appearance. The emotive caption said, in part:

She has experienced far too much for her age, but despite this, she still manages to give someone the shirt off her back when they most likely don’t deserve it. Who gives a crap if she wants to put on lashes or long nails for the week when she works her ass off in class and maintains good grades? Therefore, the next time, think carefully about Alana before passing judgment or calling her names.

Mama June, Honey’s mother, has completed treatment and is eager to rebuild their relationship. Mama June got in touch with Pumpkin and Honey after a gap of more than a year without seeing her daughters.

According to Pumpkin, the woman they encountered was different from the one they left a year prior. In the meeting, which aired on Mama June: Road to Redemption, Alana and Pumpkin made amends with their mother and talked about the suffering Mama June’s heroin addiction caused them.

Alana Thompson stated through tears,

It’s just hard because you weren’t there for my first day of high school, and I think that’s a pretty huge thing. “It was difficult for me to be alone and I had to go home and tell Pumpkin what I was up to. Although I’m incredibly appreciative that Pumpkin was there for me, why weren’t you? Why didn’t you show up when I needed you?

Mama June was candid about her drug use, acknowledging that she had spent close to $1 million on drugs in a single year and that she was ill and unable to care for herself. Before saying,

But I’m prepared to do whatever it takes to get you all back in my life, and that’s the reason why I’m here today,” she labeled her decision to enter rehab selfishly.”

When asked about her mental suffering at not knowing whether her mother would return home, Honey Boo Boo mentioned it.

You have no idea how many times Alana wept herself to sleep while wishing and praying that you hadn’t overdosed. Although Pumpkin and Honey were pleased to see their mother making a full recovery, it will be some time before they can resume their normal lives as a family.

Pumpkin said to People,

“I think it was very hard to just resume up where we left off, not for her, but it was for me and Alana.”

Because Alana Thompson didn’t suddenly become an addict or start causing all this turmoil, and while fixing that will take some time, mama just kind of anticipates things returning to “Oh, were the same loving family and we’re the same girls.” And for us, it’s kind of changed from that.
