Niecy Nash, an Emmy Award-winning actress and television personality, recently played Glenda Cleveland in the Netflix limited series Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, which premiered on Netflix on September 21.

The show, created by Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan, is based on the eponymous serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer (played by Evan Peters), whose 13-year killing spree began in 1978 and primarily targeted young homosexual men of color.

The show follows the events leading up to the birth of the infamous ‘Milwaukee Monster,’ as well as his eventual incarceration in 1991. The program focuses on the traumatic experiences of Dahmer’s victims and presents the event through the eyes of these victims and Dahmer’s neighbors.

Niecy Nash’s alter ego Glenda Cleveland, one of Dahmer’s neighbors, was among the first to suspect his behavior and report him to the police.

Despite beginning her career as a flight attendant for an airline, Nash quickly rose to fame, appearing in shows such as Reno 911!, Getting On, and When They See Us.

Niecy Nash has three children with her first husband, Don Nash. Their marriage lasted 13 years, from 1994 to 2007. Dominic, Donielle, and Dia, their three children, are all performers in the entertainment industry. Dominic and Donielle Nash appear in The Soul Man alongside their mother Nash.

Donielle has also appeared on Modern Family, Never Have I Ever, and Grown-ish, among others. Dia Nash has appeared in several series alongside her mother, including Reno 911!, Claws, and Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, in which she plays Sandra Smith, the daughter of Glenda Cleveland, played by Nash.

Niecy Nash revealed her sexual orientation when she married singer Jessica Betts in a lavish wedding ceremony in August 2020. The couple dated in secret until their wedding day, when they made their engagement public.

They were also the first same-sex couple to grace the cover of Essence magazine. Nash and Betts have created a clothing line that celebrates love and Black LGBTQ greatness. ‘Betts of Both Worlds’ incorporates their married name as well as references to the project that combines the best of both of them.

Niecy Nash released her self-help book It’s Hard to Fight Naked in 2013. In an interview with Kevin Frazier for Entertainment Tonight, Niecy revealed that she is now writing a second book on the advice of Oprah Winfrey.

She also claimed that Winfrey (a rumored Nash fan) approached her about writing a book about her groundbreaking love story with Jessica Betts.

5) Nash has volunteered for several non-profit organizations

Nash has worked with a number of significant organizations. She was the public face of the M.A.V.I.S. group (Mothers Against Violence in Schools).

Her mother founded the group in 1993, following the tragic death of Nash’s younger brother, Michael, in a school shooting that year. Niecy helped her mother run the M.A.V.I.S. until they decided to shut it down.

She has also donated her time to organizations such as Dress for Success and the American Cancer Society. Nash also worked with Wendy Raquel Robinson, a friend, and fellow actress, at Robinson’s Amazing Grace Conservatory, a non-profit center that teaches and develops new performers.
