GloRilla Made A Donation Of $25,000 To The School She Attended

GloRilla

GloRilla, an American rapper, donated $25,000 to her alma mater, MLK Prep, stating she felt “lucky” to give back. The 22-year-old rapper, whose actual name is Gloria Woods, gifted her school $25,000, with $12,500 going to senior dues and the remaining $12,500 going to the music department. The school is located in Frayser, Tennessee, which is in North Memphis.

The performer, who is also from Memphis, sang her hit song, F.N.F., for the children. She claimed she wanted to motivate them and show them that their dreams may come true.

The Memphis rapper said in a statement:

“I want youngsters to understand that they can accomplish anything they set their minds to.” If they have a dream, all they have to do is reach for the stars. And anything they set their minds to, whatever they work for, they can achieve and obtain.”

Chiquita Perry, principal of MLK College Prep, issued the following statement:

“We are pleased that our former pupil is back to the corridors she used to roam.” We are so proud of Ms. Woods and grateful for her community involvement, leadership, and friendship.”

GloRilla is from Memphis, Tennessee

GloRilla announced in May to Breakbeat Media that she is from Memphis, saying:

“Frayser, Tennessee is my hometown.” I’m from Frayser’s [a Memphis neighborhood], and I’m also from Memphis.” She was also proud to be one of the post-Young Dolph Memphis rappers working to promote the city.”

She claimed in an interview with Refinery 29:

“That’s wonderful. “I’m overjoyed to be a part of it since it’s a new wave.” I’m pleased to be one of the new wave’s pioneers.”

GloRilla stated in another interview that she no longer resides there. She stated on the Big Facts podcast of Revolt that she “won’t be in Memphis much longer” since there is “too much” going on. The artist appears to be referring to the city’s rappers being attacked.

GloRilla’s most recent track, F.N.F, topped the Billboard Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay Chart.

Glorilla’s song F.N.F., which featured HitKidd, became viral. The song was uploaded and soon became famous on the video-sharing platform TikTok on April 29, 2022, resulting in a breakthrough smash for both artists.

It reached No. 1 on the Billboard Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay Chart. Despite the song’s success on the TikTok platform, GloRilla has previously stated that she is not primarily interested in creating TikTok music.

The rapper told Refinery29 in a statement:

“I have bars.” I don’t generally make TikTok videos. However, it is often so difficult that it simply goes viral on there because it is so wonderful.”

Rappers in the industry, like Travis Scott and DeJ Loaf, have praised the musician.

GloRilla and CardiB collaborate on the new single Tomorrow2

Meanwhile, GloRilla has released Tomorrow 2, a new collaboration with Cardi B that follows her previous chart-topping track, Tomorrow. The rapper went on to elaborate on her part by hinting at the lyrics of the song. She commented on the song on Twitter:

“BUT THAT IS WHY I ENJOY MONDAY.”

She also used a gold award and a green checkmark emoji before finishing with:

“It’s official, my lady @iamcardib and I are engaged.” TOMORROW 2 WILL BE RELEASED ON FRIDAY, 9/23, AT MIDNIGHT… “Save this and let’s gooooooo.”

F.N.F. by GloRilla was deemed the “summer hit” by Cardi B. In April, she appeared as a guest on Kay Flock’s Shake It with Dougie B and Bory300, and in July, she appeared on Hot Sh*t, which included Kanye West and Lil Durk.
