In honor of the BBC’s 100th anniversary, King Charles will appear in an episode of The Repair Shop. The queen will select a clock from the 18th century to be restored by the program’s team of experts and a piece of pottery created for Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee.
The purpose of the episode is to examine his and the program’s common enthusiasm for maintaining traditional craft techniques.
The audience is invited to bring heirlooms that require repair for the event.
The episode features the show’s host Jay Blades and his crew meeting the then Prince of Wales at Dumfries House in Ayrshire, Scotland, which is held by the King’s charity organization.
In addition to meeting some of the children participating in a Prince’s Foundation program teaching traditional trades like blacksmithing, stonemasonry, and wood carving, the King will be seen giving Blades a tour of the estate.
The Repair Shop crew also promises to restore the Wemyss Ware pottery created for Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee in 1897 and an 18th-century bracket clock from the collection at Dumfries House.
“It is unbelievable to see that two people from so far apart, from different ends of the spectrum, actually have the same interests,” said Blades, who received his MBE from the King in May. “You’ve got someone from a council estate and someone from a royal estate that have the same interests about apprenticeships and heritage crafts.”

“People will see the former Prince of Wales since they don’t often see him, and he is just as impressed by the team’s abilities as are all of our Repair Shop guests.

The show was shot between the fall of 2021 and the beginning of March 2022 before the King assumed the throne.
