The family was compelled by the circumstance to relocate frequently as Nicole and Chris looked for employment. Nicole and Chris occasionally held down two jobs apiece, and the family was forced to live in small apartments.

The family struggled, and the home occasionally descended into complete chaos. I grew up in an extremely chaotic household, Halsey said in a Rolling Stone interview.

The children enrolled in several schools as a result of their frequent travel. Before she turned thirteen, Halsey already had six schools under her belt.

She discovered she was bipolar while in a psychiatric hospital for more than two weeks. Halsey also learned that Nicole suffered from the same issue.

Due to her artistic talent, Halsey enrolled at the Rhode Island School of Design. She quickly realized that staying at the school was out of her price range. She had little choice except to enroll in a community college, although she opposed the concept. Halsey believed it to be a time waster.

The largest impact of Halsey’s choice was that Chris and Nicole decided to exclude her from the home. Halsey asserts that her parents’ choice was not solely based on her decision to drop out of college. They simply didn’t agree with a lot of things about me, Halsey told Rolling Stone.

Halsey, a White Woman who passes for Black

Since She acknowledged to Playboy that she “looks like a White girl,” many people are shocked to hear that she is multiracial. I don’t feel like one, though. I am a lady of color. It’s been strange navigating life while seeming to be a white woman but feeling like a black one, Halsey continued.

She admitted,

“I’m white-passing.” I have never attempted to dominate any aspect of Black culture that is not my own and have accepted it about myself. Due to the Black Lives Matter demonstrations, Halsey was accused of not “claiming her Black side.”

She recognized that since she is white-passing, she does not experience the same threats that other Black people do. I’ve always been proud of who I am, but to use the word “we” when I’m not vulnerable to the same violence would be completely inaccurate, she wrote in a tweet.

“The tears I would shed for presenting phenotypically Black and the disadvantages and violence that I would face because of that,” the author writes. “No matter how many tears I’ve shed because I’m not connecting with my family or my culture in a way that I would like to, or because the waitress thinks I’m the babysitter when I go out with my family.

She and her boyfriend Alev Aydin will face “a new struggle” as they raise their child. She explained, “I’m mixed-race, Alev is Middle Eastern, and our child will have a Black grandfather and a Turkish grandfather. In this kind of multicultural home, they will develop.

Halsey received her First Tattoo thanks to Nicole

She has full sleeves. Her tongue is pierced. When I was a child, she was extremely cool, stunning, and constantly had tattoos. Since I looked up to her, I believe I always considered it an artistic endeavor.

When Halsey was 15 years old, Nicole took her to get her very first tattoo. Nicole and Halsey both have matching anchor tattoos. She declared:

“I begged her over and again to let me get a tattoo, and she took me to get one almost as a terror tactic,” the woman said. My mother also owns the identical anchor with her initials on it.
