Everything You Need To Know About Greta Onieogou

Greta Onieogou

Greta Onieogou portrays Layla Keating in the drama series All American. She also frequently appeared in the Heartland television series Soraya Duval. Murdoch Mysteries, Heroes Reborn: Dark Matters, Degrassi: The Next Generation, and Anne with an E are some of Greta’s previous TV appearances.

Onieogou launched her own YouTube channel in 2019 to become a social media celebrity. It’s difficult for some people to comprehend Greta is 29 years old. The charming and upbeat Zendaya clone appears to be no older than 20. This essay will examine her professional life, her difficulties as a budding actor, and her intriguing auditions.

Where was Greta Onieogou born? Ethnicity, Nationality, Family

Greta was born to Nigerian and Russian parents on March 14, 1991, in Leningrad (now St. Petersburg).

When she was five years old, her family relocated to Toronto, Canada. Despite spending the majority of her life in Toronto, Greta considers English to be her second language. Nevertheless, she is fluent in Russian. St. Petersburg is one of her favorite cities, and she has family there.

Greta started practicing gymnastics after relocating to Canada. At the age of 12, she switched from artistic gymnastics to rhythmic gymnastics. She once collaborated with the well-known Canadian gymnast Alexandra Orlando. Greta said during a CBC interview:

People might not be aware of this about me, but I speak Russian well. I also used to compete in rhythmic gymnastics, and I even had the opportunity to work with Olympian Alexandra Orlando for a while!”

Greta quit Gymnastics at the age of 18 to pursue acting

Greta was a gifted gymnast, but her true love was acting. At the age of 18, she stopped competing in gymnastics and started acting. She was fortunate to have her parents’ backing in her new endeavor. She went on:

“I’ve been doing acting since I was very young, and I was fortunate to have incredibly supportive parents who helped foster and develop my passion. I’ve always enjoyed doing it, though I’m not sure why; something about it simply feels right. I enjoy everything, including narrating stories while putting myself in someone else’s shoes and working with a fantastic cast and crew.

She acknowledged that it was challenging to film All American during the pandemic, but she was grateful that they completed another season.

Instagram users who follow Greta must have seen pictures of her wearing PPE during filming. The cast only wore protective gear while the cameras weren’t rolling, she said in a mid-December 2020 Q&A. She also emphasized how challenging it was to film during the pandemic and how thankful she was that the cast and crew survived.

It might be challenging at times. Simply being unable to interact in the same way is, in my opinion, the worst thing. We are not hugging. We are all adjusting as best we can despite the extremely different daily interactions with the crew. I just want to express my gratitude for the opportunity to create another season for you all.

On Fever Pitch, Onieogou talked about her very first movie experience. She portrayed a pupil of Ben Wrightman, who was portrayed by Jimmy Fallon. Greta, a major fan of Drew Barrymore, had pleasant memories of her time spent on the set. She clarified:

“It was really enjoyable. I attended the Toronto shooting. Just the most enjoyment could be had. Being a part of this massive production with so many other kids was a ton of fun. It was simply very unique. I simply have a ton of fantastic recollections from the shoot. Jimmy and Drew were just the sweetest people.

While attending auditions, Greta Onieogou took a nine-to-five job because she wanted to have a backup plan in case acting didn’t work out. Greta was certain that she wanted to be an actor, but she also understood that getting roles would be challenging at first.

To explore acting chances whenever she had free time, she obtained a nine-to-five job. Like other ambitious performers, she didn’t want to put all of her eggs in one basket.

Although she doesn’t think it’s a horrible idea, she wanted to be prepared in case acting didn’t pan out. Greta stated in a Q&A session that was published in October 2019 on her YouTube channel:

I believed that if I’m not working hard like that, I’m not doing it right. That is trash. Take the necessary steps to complete the task. If you must work a regular 9 to 5 job, then go to auditions over your lunch break and after work hours as I did. To do it “the correct way,” you don’t have to get here penniless and live out of your car.

Greta frequently has Drama in her Acting Auditions

Greta has had a lot of dramatic acting tryouts in the past. She first tried out for the part of Olivia Baker before landing the part of Layla in All American. Her video audition was well received by the casting directors, and she was invited to L.A. to be tested for the part.

The following week was spent trying out for the part of Olivia in Los Angeles. The filmmakers urged her to try out for Layla instead while she was still in the audition process. She related the following tale in her Q&A video:

“In my last audition, I read for both roles, but Layla was the one I was cast for. My agent and manager called me while I was at the Santa Monica Pier with my father, which is generally an extremely good or a horrible phone call. In my situation, the phone call was excellent. We were at the ocean and I was laughing and weeping. My dad was also present. Pretty close to becoming picture-perfect”

Greta Onieogou was an hour late for her Heartland audition. Although she was late for the audition, her agents were able to get her an appointment. In the CBC interview, Greta said:

“I badly miscalculated the time for my audition and arrived an hour late, when everything had already closed and everyone had left. The rest is history, thanks to my fantastic agent who was able to secure me another one!

Greta doesn’t mind that most of her auditions include some drama.
