Everything We Know About Trevor Noah Parents

Trevor Noah

Trevor Noah, The Daily Show, a mock news program on Comedy Central, is currently hosted. Before finishing fourth in South Africa’s Strictly Come Dancing in 2008, he began his career as a television broadcaster there. From 2010 to 2011, he served as host of Tonight with Trevor Noah, and he afterward found fame performing stand-up comedy around the world.

Noah took over for Jon Stewart as presenter of The Daily Show in 2015, and he will continue in that role through 2022. Born a Crime, Noah’s popular autobiographical comedy book, was published in 2016. When writing the novel, Noah claimed, he pictured himself as its protagonist, but after finishing it, he understood that his mother was the real protagonist.

Where was Trevor Noah born? Ethnicity, Nationality, Family

In February 1984, Robert and Patricia welcomed Trevor. Robert was of Swiss origin, while Patricia was of Xhosa ancestry. Patricia’s opposition to the regime had repercussions because she occasionally got jailed for staying out beyond curfew in white communities. Trevor said on Fresh Air with Terry Gross:

A law that forbade interracial sexual interactions was enacted by the South African government many years before Trevor was born. Although the police vigorously enforced that law, some individuals, like Noah’s parents, protested against the apartheid rule.

People of all races gathered in secret locations in South Africa at the risk of being apprehended. “My mum was discovered, as you may know, in the residence of my father. She was discovered after curfew in a white area without the necessary authorization. My mother thus occasionally spent a week in jail.

She would serve a day, a week, a week and a half, or two weeks in this jail. You were unable to make a phone call to the police. You simply vanished for a spell. The fact that we lived in a state where some people vanished permanently was also frightening.

Trevor admitted to Terry Gross that it was challenging growing up as a person of color. Being a child, he didn’t think it was difficult at the time, but he recalled occasions when his grandmother had instructed him to hide beneath the bed when the police conducted arbitrary house inspections.

The discriminatory regime was successful in dividing the local population. Trevor recounted in his book Born a Crime about the time his mother tossed him from a speeding bus after the Zulu driver abducted Trevor and his mother. Holding her young son Andrew, Patricia also leaped off, but her landing cushioned him from the blow.

Patricia was shot and almost killed by Trevor’s violent stepfather

Patricia’s Beetle was in poor condition and spent a lot of time in the garage. Patricia first met Abel on one of those outings to the garage. They clicked, and in 1992 they were married. Sadly, Abel was violent with Patricia and Noah. Before their 1996 divorce, he and Patricia had two sons: Andrew and Isaac.

Abel confronted Patricia and her husband Sfiso Khoza as they were leaving church thirteen years later.

He shot Patricia in the knee and the back of the head because he believed she was to blame for his life’s demise. Fortunately, all significant nerves and blood vessels were spared by the bullets. Then, after receiving a death threat from Abel, Trevor fled to Los Angeles.

Abel was detained and found guilty of trying to kill someone.

Noah’s mother did not coerce Trevor to convert to Judaism

When Noah was 10 years old, Patricia, who had nurtured him according to Christian principles, converted to Judaism.

Noah claimed to Terry Gross that her mother’s curiosity caused her to become a Christian. He stated:

OK, I’ve read the Bible, she said. I recently reread the Bible. I’m currently rereading the Bible. Let me ask you, from where did this Bible come? Who are the Israelites, according to the Old Testament? Who or what is a Jew? She left after that, and I’m going to research that. And she wanted to almost reach the core, you know?

Although Patricia didn’t coerce Noah into becoming a Jew, she did plan his bar mitzvah when he was 13 years old. No one showed up to the event because, according to Noah, Patricia was the only one who understood what it meant. Although he doesn’t comprehend the majority of them, Patricia continues to send Noah Hebrew texts, according to Noah, who told Terry Gross.
