Everything We Know About Clairo Parents

Clairo

Clairo (actual name Claire Elizabeth Cottrill) became well-known after the release of her track Pretty Girl in 2017. The drum-heavy song was written by Clairo using GarageBand, and the video was captured using the laptop’s webcam. The silly, poor-quality video quickly gained popularity and, as of this writing, has received over 72 million views.

The growth of Clairo occurred at the same time when streaming became the favored method of music consumption and artist discovery worldwide. She has gained tremendous critical acclaim for her debut studio album, Immunity, which has made her a streaming superstar.

Clairo’s father is “connected,” and some opponents questioned Clairo’s climb to stardom.

Clairo’s ascent to stardom is very comparable to the ascent of many independent musicians. She used inexpensive equipment to record a song, released it online, and soon gained internet celebrity. By making music for the internet in their beds, musicians like Billie Eilish have achieved astounding popularity.

These musicians sparked the development of the bedroom pop indie music subgenre.

According to Clairo, “I posted it on YouTube, and the algorithm just ate it up.”

Major labels including Capitol, RCA, and Columbia were interested in her after seeing the video, but none of them signed her. She ultimately signed with the FADER label, mostly as a result of her father’s standing in the music business.

Famous marketer Geoff Cottrill has held executive roles at Procter & Gamble, Converse, and Coca-Cola. At Starbucks Entertainment Hear Music in Seattle, he served as vice president. Geoff was appointed vice-chair of MusiCares, a charity with strong ties to the Grammy Awards, in 2014. He obtained a recording contract for Clairo by using his contacts in the music business, according to The New York Times.

He got in touch with Jon Cohen, a manager at the marketing firm that produces FADER magazine, who then signed Clairo to the FADER label and gave her the name of her famous manager, Pat Corcoran. Clairo was ultimately signed by Pat to his management firm, Haight Brand. As a result, Clairo’s veracity was contested in student newspapers, message boards, and YouTube videos.

While Clairo’s father undoubtedly contributed to her ascent, we shouldn’t overlook the fact that she planned her big break. It seems unthinkable that Geoff was involved in the Pretty Girl smash that made Clairo famous. Clairo is the true creator of silly dance moves, contagious eye rolls, transitions in clothing, greasy hair, and plastic toy.

Claire’s mother studied graphic design and is a children’s photographer based in Atlanta

The mother of Clairo is an Atlanta-based children’s photographer who has a background in graphic design.

Allie, Clairo’s mother, has remained silent during the dispute involving Clairo and Geoff. Allie worked as a graphic designer and art director after earning a BFA in graphic design from the University of Georgia.

She quit her job as an art director to focus only on photographing children’s fashion.

Some of her better photos are on her Instagram page. Allie occasionally shares pictures of her family on her blog.
