Ben Simmons’s mother first met and wed Dave Simmons, she was a divorcee with four kids

When Julie and Dave Simmons first met, they were both divorced single mothers. Melissa, Emily, Liam, and Sean were the children of her first marriage.

After three years of dating, Dave and Julie got engaged and soon welcomed Olivia and Ben into their family. Ben was born at the same time as the 1996 Atlanta Olympics Opening Ceremonies, Julie told USA Today. As they waited for Julie to reach the point of pushing, Dave and the nurses were engrossed in what was happening on television.

When the on-screen dancers pulled out cards and asked, “HOW Y’ALL DOIN?” I’ll tell you how I’m doing, I’m trying to have a baby, Julie screamed. Everyone in the room turned to look at Julie after the yell. Siblings who were raised by Dave and Julie as a single unit forged close ties.

The kids developed into extremely competitive athletes. Ben was constantly at a disadvantage when the family played games since he was the youngest, making him a target for insults and teasing. Regarding Ben’s elder siblings, Julie claims that “they helped him grow up.” He’s a laid-back, peaceful child who also has a cheeky side.

Ben still has a close relationship with his siblings. Olivia Simmons discussed how her siblings, particularly Ben, have helped her deal with the condition in an interview with The Undefeated regarding her diagnosis of bipolar disorder. She wrote, “Ben’s like my best friend.”

Ben Simmons recently gave his brother Sean Tribe Simmons an Audi SQ8 as a birthday present

As he entered the garage, Ben continued, “I’ve got to show you something.

He pointed to the Audi and remarked, “So that’s your automobile.” Sean started to chuckle but couldn’t help but start crying. As anticipated, Ben made fun of him for it. You’re crying on live television? Ben shouted.

After observing the shortcomings of basketball training in Australia, Dave, a former professional basketball player, took over Ben’s training.

Ben became the superstar he is today thanks in large part to Dave Simmons. He was raised in Australia, a country that doesn’t place the same priority on basketball talent development that the US does. Ben played rugby and Australian Rules Football in addition to basketball despite having a clear flair for the sport, but he eventually chose basketball.

He told USA Today, “I felt like basketball was for me. Dave Simmons, though, didn’t agree with Australia’s approaches to developing potential. Due to his more than ten years of experience playing international basketball, Dave Simmons, a retired basketball player from the Bronx, knew what his kid needed to learn.

He has played in the Australian National Basketball League for thirteen seasons. His No. 25 jersey was retired by the Melbourne Tigers after he helped them win the NBL Championship. Ben arrived in the United States still using the Australian style of play, despite Dave’s offer to train him.
