Doria Ragland Arrest And Charge: Is the American Social Worker In Jail Or Prison Now?

Doria Ragland

The former cosmetics artist and yoga instructor is an American social worker. She is also the mother of Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex and actress. Ragland is presently in the spotlight as a result of the Netflix documentary Harry and Meghan.

Doria Ragland Arrest And Charge: Was She Arrested?

Rumor has it that Doria Ragland was caught and imprisoned for 4-5 years for tax fraud related to a tour service she managed. Speculation is that it explains her absence from Meghan’s life for a significant portion of her upbringing.

However, there are other causes for Meghan moving home with her father, such as the fact that he lived in a nicer neighborhood and Doria did not have enough time owing to her profession as a flight attendant. There are opposing opinions, with some claiming she was truly imprisoned and others claiming these are only stories.

It would be incorrect to make any assumptions based on the lack of publicly available information, such as her criminal history.

What Has Happened to the American Social Worker?

Doria Ragland, 66, has worked as a social worker at a Mental Health Services facility in Culver City since 2015 when she passed her license exam. She formerly worked as a cosmetics artist, air stewardess, yoga instructor, secretary, CFO, and CEO of Loving Kindness Senior Care Management, a Beverly Hills care home organization.

Ragland is a well-educated lady who graduated from the University of Southern California with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Master of Social Work. She lives in the View Park-Windsor Hills district of Los Angeles, about two hours south of Montecito, Santa Barbara, where her daughter and son-in-law have relocated.

Ragland now resides in a home she received from her father in 2011. She is close to Meghan and often accompanies her to public engagements. Meghan and Harry gave birth to Archie Mountbatten-Windsor (born May 6, 2019) and Lilibet Mountbatten-Windsor (born June 4, 2021).

The 66-year-old Ragland, who wants to keep out of the spotlight, appears in the Harry & Meghan documentary. In the second episode of the six-part series, she introduces herself and confesses that the previous five years have been difficult.

“I am certain that I am prepared to have my voice heard. “Some of my experience as her mother,” Ragland explains.

Discover Doria Ragland’s Family History

Doria Loyce Ragland was born to Jeanette Arnold (1929-2000) and Alvin Azell Ragland (1929-2011) in Cleveland, Ohio, USA. Jeanette, her mother, was a nurse, and Alvin, her father, and Jeanette’s second husband was an antique trader.

They split after moving to Los Angeles with Doria as a newborn. Alvin married kindergarten teacher Ava Burrow, who was about his daughter’s age, in 1983. Doria married Thomas Markle Sr., a lighting director, in December 1979, and their daughter, Meghan Markle, was born in 1981. Meghan was separated from the pair when she was two.

Doria has an elder maternal half-sibling, Joseph “JJ” (1949-2021), and a younger paternal half-brother, Alvin Joffrey Ragland. The Ragland family is said to be descended from Richard Ragland, who was born into slavery in Jonesboro, Georgia, around 1830. Richard lived long enough to see slavery abolished in 1865.

The Ragland surname was derived from slave-owner William Ragland, a property investor and Methodist planter who went to North America in the eighteenth century from Cornwall, England. Nettie and James Arnold, Doria’s maternal grandparents, worked as elevator operators and bellhops at the Hotel St. Regis on Euclid Avenue in Cleveland.
