Waiters attended Syracuse University in Syracuse, New York. He averaged 6.6 points, 1.5 assists, and 1.6 rebounds per game as a freshman.He then went 8-for-10 with 18 points in an NCAA Tournament second-round loss to Marquette.As a sophomore at Syracuse University, Waitpersons averaged 12.6 points, 2.5 assists, and 2.3 rebounds per game.

Professional Basketball Career

Despite declining to work out for any teams prior to the draft, the Cleveland Cavaliers selected Dion Waiters fourth overall in the 2012 NBA draft.He decided to join them after they promised to draft him in the middle of the lottery if he became available. He was a member of the team from 2012 to 2015.

Many scouts were surprised to see Waiters drafted so high, despite the fact that he did not play in college and played zone defense at Syracuse.
