He also triumphed in the lightweight division at the IFBB Mr. Olympics in 1974 and 1975. His first victory in the overall competition came in 1976.

Later that year, in 1977, he entered his name in the World’s Strongest Man’s first edition. Unfortunately, when carrying a refrigerator on his back during the incident, he hurt his left knee.
