On November 3, 1987, Colin Kaepernick was born to white lady Heidi Russo. African-American male with Ghanaian, Nigerian, and Ivorian ancestry, Kaepernick’s father. His identity is unclear because he and Heidi split up before Colin was born.

They said the following:
As his parents, we find it upsetting to see tweets and articles that claim his family does not support him; nothing could be further from the truth. We want everyone to know how proud we are of our kid and how much we respect his fortitude and courage in bending down to defend the rights of others.
In their statement, Teresa and Rick attacked Kaepernick’s detractors. Additionally, it voiced disbelief at the “amount of racism out there!” The parents acknowledged that the fallout from Colin’s remarks had made them more aware of the awful “racial environment” in the USA. Teresa told The Undefeated, “I just want to be clear that we do support him completely.
Previously, Colin’s parents had backed him after a columnist had disparaged him for having tattoos. Teresa complained to USA Today:
“You classify this kid based on things like tattoos? Really? Are you going to describe this child in that way? Although it is quite annoying, it is what it is.
“This man is trying to make him appear like a gangster,” Rick said, “instead of mentioning that Colin does all these fantastic things and volunteers his time to children.”
